Choke on 'em...
I'd completely agree Day is better than Dawn but Night is a damn near perfect piece of cinema.

Strangely enough, I'd personally rank Romero's dead movies in exact order of release date:

1 - Night of the Living Dead
2 - Dawn of the Dead
3 - Day of the Dead
4 - Land of the Dead
5 - Diary of the Dead
6 - Survival of the Dead

btw I only like the first four films enough to own on blu-ray. I can live without Diary or Survival.

That's interesting. I always have Dawn at the top of any list where enjoyment is the deciding factor and would put Land above Night and Day on the same list. However, if it is on pure filmmaking skill, acting and technical aspects, then I agree with you.

If we're ranking purely by enjoyment rather than actual quality of film, then my list would look like this:

1 - Dawn of the Dead
2 - Day of the Dead
3 - Night of the Living Dead
4 - Land of the Dead
5 - Diary of the Dead
6 - Survival of the Dead

Night is knocked down a couple of notches but there's not too much change.

I'm aware I'm tossing a cat among pigeons here but ultimately why would you judge a film on anything but enjoyment factor?

Night has a massively depressing ending but is made all the more powerful for it. It's a much more ground-breaking film made on a much lower budget. Hence me highly rating it as the best even if it's not the most enjoyable out of the six Dead films. Does that make any sense or am I just talking nonsense?

As to Romero's dead films.
There are clear tiers in my appreciation,
As follows -

Night/ Dead ( my favourites and both are films i love and can't fault.)
Dawn/ Land (both great but with flaws for me)
Diary/ Survival ( i enjoy both equally but flaws 'seriously' undermine their effectiveness)
All Romero's dead films would rate 7/10 or over for me.

Best Romero films - Night/ Martin/ Day

Has anyone else actually seen Bruiser?

No big love for Creepshow? I'm quite a fan of that particular Romero comedy horror. I think that it's wonderfully executed.

btw Still haven't seen Bruiser.

I love Creepshow but the cheesy tone sets it just below the three i mentioned.

I also really like Monkey Shines, a film that doesn't get much love. It reminds me of one of those one location films like Hepburns 'Wait until dark' and Hitchcocks 'Rope/Rear Window', obviously it's not as good as either but i like claustrophobic simple films that wrack up the tension, when i am in the mood.

Bruiser is not great, but has an interesting premise and is worth watching, but it is fumbled in it's execution.
