stranger than paradise.

Another classic from jim jarmusch. This one follows a young hipster and his friendship with his hungarian cousin and their roadtrip to florida.

Not as darkly humourous as down by law, or as beautifully photographed, its still a great piece of b&w indie filmamking. Very funny at times and highly reccomended.

Demons: Splater classic.
Demons 2: Still one of the best horror sequels of all time.

BLACK POWER MIXTAPE:1967-1975. Culled together from Swedish news footage from the 60s/70s, this excellent documentary shows the people behind the popular raised fist image of the Black Panther Party and other Black militant groups of the time.. By equal turns moving and inspiring this is a must see for anyone interested in 1960s politics or revolutionary movements. Blaxploitation fans should give it a go to see the reality behind the stereotypes. Highly recommended.

THE WICKER TREE. The cover to the DVD says "Accept Our Sacrifice" but the only sacrifice is the viewers time and money.

I almost bought this on sale for $13.99 but passed on it . The fact that it has been so long between the two films had me worried so I passed on it.

Shame to hear it is not up too par with The Wickerman.

Watched The Hamiltons last night. Urgh. What a load of rubbish. I've been reading some great reviews of it, but I just thought it was dreadful. Boring, samey, STUPID and terrible acting to boot.

Also watched Hands Of A Stranger and really really loved it! It's an old black and white film, telling the tale of a pianist who loses his hands and has the hands of a murderer attached instead. It's very silly and very B-Movie-y.

Before both of those I stuck on Deep Blue Sea. Silly for all the right reasons and rubbish in all the right ways. A masterpiece of fun cinema.

Lately, I've also realised I've started to slack when it comes to film. I've not been watching any obscure/exploitation films in quite some time. Not good!

It's such a bad film and the twist ending is obvious at the beginning. The sad thing is it's actually got a sequel.

Watched SHAME, a depressing film about Michael Fassbender's character who has a sex addiction, it has great performances and is beautifully shot but i didn't see the point to it because there was no resolution or anything.

Then i watched HAYWIRE, an action film with barely any action, a convoluted plot, badly written characters and an epically slow pace and it's only 92 minutes long, i kept looking at the counter on the blu ray player to see when it ended. It's a film that was made to showcase the big name cast that signed on for it because they definitely didn't sign on for the plot. Again Steven Soderberg fails to impress me. Absolute rubbish.
