Forget your damnned art movies!

I watched the legendary WEEKEND AT BERNIES, the lighthearted comedy centering around the gross abuse of the dead!

I love this film, one might argue its the perfect portrayal of the eighties, everyone is so self absorbed, materialistic and decadent no one at the constant string of parties even notices their host is dead, or you could inore any deeper meaning and just enjoy the film for the well crafted farce that it is (and don calfa stealing scenes as a mafia hit man.) with borerline psychopaths jonathan silverman and andrew macarthy (macarthy definatley the one whose definately a psychopathic character) and hilarious corpse related hi-jinx

Loads of fun and networks blu looks great!

The recent run of horror remakes certainly divide opinion,i either love em' - this, The Hills Have Eyes, House of Wax, Texas Chainsaw Massacre or hate em' - Prom Night, The Fog, The Hills Have Eyes 2.
I also really like this remake, definitely one of the best. It has Tom Atkins, a gratuitous nude sequence, good 3d and a whiff of nostalgia throughout the proceedings.

Universal Soldier: Regeneration - I actually quite liked this one too. The opening action sequence was pretty spectacular.

Zombie Flesh Eaters - nothing needs to be said. Excellent.

well... I've not seen the original Nightbreed, but I've heard it does the book a great disservice. The Cabal Cut is a faithful and beautiful adaptation stitched together from some pretty shocking quality rediscovered footage, can't wait to see this fully restored and with an updated soundtrack... certainly didn't expect to be faced with Rick Griffin

it's clear that this project has been put together with a lot of love for the story and respect of the author's perspective, and I suggest all of you head over to Occupy Midian - Home and sign the petition, as these will be being used to show potential distributors the size of their market

Bah I really didn't care for it. I'd agree with the Hills Have Eyes being very good though. I might actually prefer it to the original. The majority of remakes don't really interest me though. I enjoyed Halloween up until it becomes a remake, then it just seemed completely pointless. Will catch Texas Chainsaw 3D when it comes out but I have very low expectations for it.

Immortal Combat (1994)

Rowdy Roddy Piper & Sonny Chiba team up to battle immortal ninja warriors. There was some decent action scenes, Chiba showing off some armed combat and Piper body slamming a few people but there wasn't enough of this. Far too much downtime & needless plot prevented this from being the fun, action packed cheesey flick this should of been. Could of done with a good 25 minutes being chopped off.
4/10

Neil Young Journeys (2011)

Documentary covering Neil's Le Noise tour. Neil re-visits his hometown and reminisces over childhood memories & performs a couple of gigs. I'd only recommend it to huge fans of Neil as it isn't essential viewing, casual viewers should start with the Rust Never Sleeps rockumentary. However as Young is my favourite artist of all-time any documentary/live footage is always welcome even if there are more essential options available.

Plus it has the great Tom Atkins. What's not to like?

Remakes definitely divide opinion as, like you, I thought My Bloody Valentine was one of the better ones, but hate the Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th films. The Fog is just abysmal but I thought the reboot of When a Stranger Calls worked pretty well as it took the best part from the original – the first act – and made it into an entire film. It's not a great piece of filmmaking and it's certainly no 'diamond in the rough', but it's one of the better remakes.

I really liked the remake of When a Stranger Calls as well. No idea why, but stupidly i got rid of it and i've never replaced it.
