Police Academy 4: Citizens On Patrol, Hard To Kill & Hardcore
Police Academy 4: Citizens On Patrol A bit of slapstick fun, sure they are silly but have fun memories of this series, apart from number 7, I quite enjoy them. This is the one where citizens learn police stuff in order to prevent crimes. They are all about the pranks they pull on Harris and Proctor. I remember back in the day where ITV would show 1 of these films a week and I would tape them (Took 3 tapes) Hard To Kill Classic Steven Segal here, a corrupt politician tries to have Segal's character murdered but he ends up in a coma for 7 years, he wakes up, goes for revenge (With the help of a Coma Nurse) whist assassins try to finish the job. Simple fare but effective, exactly what you want in this type of movie. Apart from On Deadly Ground, Segal's 90's movies were good and certainly target films when they came out for me Hardcore George C. Scott stars as a religious father whose daughter disappears, he discovers she's been making adult films, so he goes to find her. I believe this is an inspiration for 8mm, it's a slow start, when it gets going it's a good watch |

Butcher Knife (1991, Rick Philips) Another z grade piece of nonsense. Woooh mama. Tis only an hour as well Lawdy it's dull though. The protagonist's unchanging expression just adds to the hilarity. He just doesn't seem to get any pleasure out of what he's achieving Ahem. For people whom thought Alien Beasts was too exciting

The Purge: Anarchy (2014) To my horror here's another Blumhouse production that i really enjoyed. If The Purge was a Blumhouse take on Assault on Precinct 13 / Rio Bravo then The Purge: Anarchy is Blumhouse's Escape from New York and Hard Target as a disparate group of people led by Snake Plissken alike Frank Grillo, try and find safety on the wild LA streets during Purge night. Although not quite as gripping this is larger in scale than the first film with bigger and more spectacular set pieces and an enjoyable way to spend an hour and a half. |

Busting (1974)
Busting.(1975) Buddy cop movies were fairly plentiful in the mid 1970's right through to the heyday of the Lethal Weapon series back in the 1990's,and while Busting is a very entertaining entry in the genre, its only slightly beaten by the previous years Freebie And the Bean (1974) with Alan Arkin and James Caan, doing the whole bickering couple thing.Instead we have Michael Keneely (Elliott Gould),and Patrick Farrell (Robert Blake)as a pair of vice cop's looking to take down Carl Rizzo (Allen Garfield),a gangster who controls a myriad of vice's.Unfortunately for Gould and Blake ,Rizzo has friends in high places and the couple are unable to pin anything on him.Peter Hyams directs this excellent gritty police thriller, which see's Gould in excellent form and there is a great chemistry between him and Robert (Electra Glide in Blue (1973) Blake,as the two scruffy vice cops.My only critisism would a rather I'll advised fight in a gay bar, where there is some obvious stereotyping, but saying that there is a marvellous appearance from Antonio Fargas from Starsky and Hutch ,who tries to pick up Gould in the club. All in all a really entertaining cop thriller, that maybe not as funny or as zany as Freebie and the Bean (1974) but still a great 70s film.

Haven't seen that in years Ron, noted!!! Great reviews both D!!! Shout At The Devil (1976, Peter Hunt) A hoot if a bit of a slog. Walker cons Bond into sailing some contraband past some nasty Krauts in them pre WWI days in that old Africa. Wilbur Smith innit? So there IS totty, but Franco it ain't Decent set pieces, even if the pace slackens in the middle a tad, and Marvin being crusty. Sold??? Ahem.

The Devil Within Her. (Beyond The Door), 1974. During her third pregnancy Jessica feels that there is something not right with the unborn baby inside her. I have only seen the cut version of this so decided to watch the international uncut version. Juliet Mills plays the happy married wife and mother who announces her pregnancy to her husband Robert (Gabriele Lavia) who seems shocked and happy, They are soon followed by mysterious man Dimitri (Richard Johnson) who seems to know what's happening. Apart from this being a rip off from The Exorcist, This has been a decent film even though it isn't that scary and the voice of the devil needs strepsils a lot, there is some tense moments that don't last long. Only real downside i had with this is the extended and deleted scenes that have been added in weren't great put in as they seem to start and stop for a few seconds that can throw the film off its track.
