Definitely, I picked the reprinted paperback edition up a few years back, it’s a decent well researched book

Ok so I want to get Blood Simple as have never seen it, but not sure which version to go for. There is a criterion us release I cant get as region locked but the uk has a studiocanal blu out, only problem is I've read lots of reviews saying it's too dark (the film itself), anybody own the studiocanal blu & is it as hard to see as say, The Relic?

Thanks in advance!

I only have the Universal Pictures and StudioCanal DVDs (the latter with the film in its correct aspect ratio), so I'd be interested in opinions on the best HD version as well.

I can't say for sure because I have neither versions but the screenshots on Caps-a-holic show that they (Criterion Vs Studio Canal) are almost the same, granted it's the German Studio Canal but I can't imagine that there is a different version for the UK

Interesting the US Twentieth Century Fox release has a commentary by "Forever Young Films" Kenneth Loring, whereas the Criterion Collection one has these:
  • New conversation between Barry Sonnenfeld and the Coen Brothers (70:29)
  • New conversation between author Dave Eggers and the Coen Brothers (35:00)
  • New interview with composer Carter Burwell and sound mixer Skip Lievsay (23:45)
  • New interview with actress Frances McDormand (25:05)
  • New interview with actor M. Emmet Walsh (16:33)
Rewind @ www.dvdcompare.net - Blood Simple (Blu-ray) (1984)

I'm a huge fan of the film and tempted to get both.

It’s fantastic! Make no mistake though, it’s truly amateur and guerrilla film making, but it’s also hilarious, trashy and boundary breaking. If you like Pink Flamingos or Female Trouble you’ll love this. The Criterion looks amazing as well!
