I like to think not.

Imo there's also some pretty effective facial frights in The Lord Of The Rings:Fellowship Of The Ring, Humanoids From The Deep ('80), Night Of The Demons ('88), Guyver: Dark Hero, Innocent Blood and Scared Stiff.

Yeah I keep hearing the film is only worth it for the final shot, so not worth it at all then pretty much . . .

Oh yeah, and that hairy stabby nightmare girl in Martyrs was pretty freaky - the enjoyable first half of the film, before it goes all torture-porn-with-delusions-of-grandeur . . .

I know it's not exactly horrifying when I watch it now but I remember the scene from Hellraiser 2, when the guy is cutting himself up with the razor and then he gets killed from the guy inside the mattress, terrified me as a kid. I saw this when I was about 6 and it scared the shit out of me

I remember being about six years old and walking in on my mum and dad watching a film called Arachnophobia (by the way, I'm terrified). I remember a jungle and a massive spider jumping in a jar. I've never see the film since.

The one and only other time I remember walking in on my parents watching a film (the were actually very careful we didn't watch unsuitable films and usually locked the door whenever the watched adult films), was when the were watching Cronenberg's The Fly remake.

Both Of these films scared the shit out of me. I have since seen Cronenberg's The Fly and I love it. I don't think I'll ever watch Arachnophobia though.

Mate, I can totally relate. I have a fear of spiders and my fiance made me watch Arachnophobia quite recently and it absolutely terrified me. I can watch any kind of horror without batting an eyelid but this one had me hiding in my fiances chest (not a bad way to take my mind off spiders I must admit )

I hate spiders with a passion

I was working in a cinema when 'Aracnophobia' was released

Local fire laws dictated that a member of staff HAD to be in the auditorium at all time during screening, in case of emergency

I saw this film more times than I care to remember - well, actually I only saw it once, because the other dozen-times-or-so, I stayed in the little recess where you could have a cigarette. [This was back in the days when smoking in enclosed places was still legal]

Mind you, I did take a guilty pleasure, listening to the audiences scream and squirm!!!!
