I just about prefer Christopher Lee thanks to The Wicker Man but I'd take Vincent Price over either of them - particularly in Witchfinder General.

He was good in almost anything he did but Price's 3 crown jewels for me were Witchfinder General, Theatre Of Blood and Masque Of The Red Death.

I agree, Vince, but I do have a soft spot for him in The Invisible Man Returns from 1940.

| I could list Vincent Price favs all day, but outside those already mentioned I especially liked him in:- The Three Musketeers House Of Wax House Of Usher The Raven Tales Of Terror The Tomb Of Ligeia The Abonimable Dr Phibes Dr Phibes Rises Again Strange when you look back at his career. It took quite a while before he found real success in the horror genre.

Dennis Wheatey hated the final version, and vowed to never let Hammer adapt any more of his books, there were constant re-writes, and Richard Widmark was impossible to work with on set. An extended climax was filmed where Lee recovers from the rock thrown at him by Widmark but explodes into fire as he crosses the circle in pursuit. Shame this no longer exists as it would have made a far better ending. According to a Hammer book Widmark caused so many problems on the set that they had Cliff Robertson on standby in case he walked off. |

They had a few actors on stand-by if I remember correctly. There was also another ending which featured Lee wrestling Satan... mad! |
