Looking at Kerrang! These days I couldn’t even tell you what’s popular now, it looks like a slew of bands influenced by the likes of Bring Me the Horizon. Then us old bastards bleeting on about 80s metal haha

That’s because 80’s metal is timeless, not like the generic shite that’s around these days, there’s about a million different genres of metal these days!

It is isn't it.

Away from the big hitters the majority of 80's bands are still going with many still making superb new albums such as thrashers Kreator and Testament. LA Guns have just released a very strong album too as an example of the sleazier side still being relevant.

Did anyone see Children in Need Rocks or whatever it was called?

Europe closed the show with The Final Countdown.

Can't help thinking that this isn't the right kind of festival for The Quo to be playing at!

Ha, yes them and Mr. Big stand out like sore thumbs.

However and i say this from experience, after a hard days thrashing to black and death metal bands a light and fun finale might just be what everyone wants.

For all the great tracks by Satyricon etal none of them have a Rockin' All Over the World in their arsenal.

The same goes for Mr. Big. Whenever they play their more relaxed sound could be ideal.

To be honest i think the Quo will go down brilliantly.

I'm sure they will do

They are professionals and have been in the 'business' long enough to know what people want. They are also one of those bands that everyone likes (whether they admit it or not!)

Bet their set is more along the lines of 'Paper Plane' and 'Down Down' rather than 'Living On An Island' or 'Margarita Time' tho!

The metal music of the 80s was more pop metal (watered down commercial ) then true metal though?

When I talk about 80’s metal I’m referring to stuff like Maiden, Guns n Roses Judas Priest, Bay Area Thrash etc, not Glam/Pop Metal like Poison etc
