Compared to the shitty DVD:s, it´s still an huge upgrade, since it doesn't seem as badly cropped, and horribly contrast boosted.

As much as I wanna support 88 by buying from their store, I'd rather support my wallet and pick it up from HMV for a significantly less amount, like I did with Night Train Murders and a couple of the Slasher Collection

Exactly, they can charge premium prices when they offer premium quality products. I've emailed 88 Films about the transfer. I can see me cancelling Anthropophagus and buying it for 10-12 pounds in 6-8 months.

88 Films are two guys,so with the quantity and quality of the output, perhaps there isn't the time to answer every question put to them.

WTF is it with internet forums?
I see patterns emerging here,Shameless,Arrow and now 88 Films-to begin with, are the second coming of niche and genre titles, and when they don't pander to every whim on internet forums, suddenly the tables turn and they are 'nitpicked' at every turn.

Now before anyone says 'but without customers they'll have no sales' yeah, the same works in reverse-without the dedication of individuals,we'd still be sitting watching 10th generation ****ed up,cut vhs tapes.

As for Code Red,I'd use the word 'communicate' very sparingly. If you can consider verbal abuse to his customers communicating, then yeah he does and he excels at it.
I know.I've been there with him.Spent a fortune in his online shop only not to recieve the goods and then have to plead with him to recieve them.And-if it wasn't for the intervention of a member here,I never would have.

People need to step back and look at what these small labels provide us with and weigh up whether it's worth causing a storm in a teacup.

Trust me.If this pattern continues, then we'll all be importing from the US of A.
The fans have, for better or worse, been empowered by forums / FB groups and have become drunk on the attention that the labels have given them - Bottom line is that us hardcore fans are a minority of those who buy physical discs - as time moves on I'm sure that we'll become the majority but just because we know a lot about these films it doesn't necessarily know enough about the business to make tangible suggestions all the time.

I've been told me that the two blokes who run 88 both have other commitments in terms of work, so I imagine that they're run ragged with everything they're doing - especially given the number of releases they've been putting out. As I said before, I've a lot of time for this label because they're going after titles that are new to the format and that's worthy of a LOT of respect.

I wouldn't have singled him out but as Demdike did already I will say that Bill from Code Red is the antithesis of what companies should be doing - his passion for cult films is without question and he puts out some great titles but his social skills are incredibly bad - like Reaps I've been on the receiving end of curt emails from him - I was simply placing an order and was being incredibly polite - he would definitely benefit from moving distributions away from himself and letting a company like Screen Archives have a shot at it - he could then concentrate on what he excels and leave the logistics and PR to people who don't rant and rave.

At least you can buy 88 titles from any decent retailer.

So I've been trying to get some more info on Anthropophagus release, to see if I'm keeping my order or go ahead and cancel it. I've emailed them 4 times already, sent PMs on facebook, not a single reply. This is not serious, really. Could anyone give me a phone number of their office if there's one of course.
