Yeah, I can understand your frustration, it annoyed me when stuff was Blu only and to be fair, I only got a Blu Ray player because I was given one, I was adamant I wasn't replacing my collection for a second time, how times have changed!

The problem is that DVDs just don't sell and it can cost more to put them out in the first place than you will make back. We had to cancel Bloodsucking Freaks on DVD because our pre-orders were, literally, about 15 copies or something. When that is the case it is impossible to honour a DVD release.

In Germany, every time a Dual Play set is announced, the shitstorm hits hard: "Nooo, we have to pay extra for a shitty DVD!!!" "What am I'm supposed to to with a worthless outdated format???" etc. Here, people would actually like to have a DVD. Interesting difference. |

I don't think there is a massive difference in selling price (at least online) when it comes to UK dual format releases - especially from the more boutique labels. Some of Arrow's releases are BD only whilst some are dual format. I couldn't tell you which without looking as they all retail for around the same price anyway. I think dual format releases can be quite useful for both the customer and the releasing company in as much as they provide a release for all markets and cut down on the costs of releasing two different format releases at the expense of materials etc. DVD collectors probably have more of a right to complain anyway as they are essentially paying more for a product, as generally speaking new DVD only releases sell cheaper than new Blu releases. And lets not forget DVD is still much more useful in laptops, cars and portable players than BD, so maybe think of DVD as 'easy option' for ripping to media players etc.

I was one of the 15 people who had it on pre-order, and I was very disappointed when it was cancelled
