On a side note what is 'scanner noise'? I don't understand why people are saying Bloodstained looks like it has lots of scanner noise.

Those Blade in the Dark shots don't look great. Look completely devoid of detail or texture. Will wait to see what reviews say

Probably a silly question but have you enlarged the caps?

I've just viewed them properly via Facebook, and yes they look rather murky. They look much better when viewed as small caps, still maybe 88 can work some magic on the image? A bit of a clean up and it might look half decent.

And those Blade in the Dark screenshots have that dreaded scanner noise... I´ll keep the DVD... I just wanna go over to the LVR lab in Italy and break their ancient equipment.

Not only that scanner noise but awful compression artifacts (even worse than the legendary Scream Factory failure) absolutely no detail. X-Rated Kult will be releasing A Blade in the Dark in Germany soon too. Hope their release is decent.

Probably the same HD master I would think that is what usually happens, a lab creates one HD master and that's what every licensor gets. What those companies then do with what their given is up to them.

I wish that 88film would do kickstarters for all these films, so all the Italian the movies could recieve the ZH treatment. But, the Italians is very hard to work with, and they don´t usually let labs in other countries, borrow the negatives and do their own transfers. So I guess we might be stuck with these mediocre "LVR" transfers, even in the future... Doubt the German disc will be any better, as they usually work from the same sources. Some of them just slaps on some DNR to cover up the noise, which makes it look even worse I had hopes, after Arrow did their own Zombie Flesh Eaters transfer, and 88film did theirs for Zombie Holocaust, that this scanner noise crap, would be a thing of the past. Oh well...

Still being dvd only this may well seem like a dumb question to many of you. However, when a film has scanner noise and compression artifacts surely they are still a big step up from the dvd version or are they? |
