What is Fulci's Aenigma like, any good? Is it on a par with stuff like Cat in the Brain, Manhattan Baby, etc? I know it's probably nowhere near as good as Zombie Flesh Eaters, New York Ripper and the like.

I really like it. If that's any recommendation.

It is seen by many as a lesser work but i really do prefer it to so called classics like House by the Cemetery.

Yeah, count me in as another fan of Aenigma. It's pretty ropey in places and is certainly not up there with Fulci's better horror efforts like The Beyond and City of the Living Dead, but is definitely worth checking out in my opinion - if only for the death by snails sequence!

Slugs is far superior to Aenigma. It's a bit of a classic as far as i'm concerned.

Aenigma is a strange one. It's certainly not a top tier Fulci like Duckling or Seven Notes or Lizard. It's not top tier entertaining gory Fulci like Zombi 2 or New York Ripper. Aenigma is conseiderably better than some of Fulci's later output like Sodma's Ghost or even Demonia which from slack editing. I have the old Hard Gore dvd, which I watched once and haven't ever returned too. I think I've sat through Sodoma's Ghost at least twice!

I can always find something to like in Fulci's movies, even his latter day lesser efforts such as MANHATTAN BABY, AENIGMA, SODOMAS GHOST, HOUSE OF CLOCKS etc.

The only one I can't get away with is DEMONIA, which is pretty dreadful. Having said that, if 88 put it out as part of their Italian Collection, I'd still buy it
