They've always been contemptuous of their fan base. I never pre-order their releases.

Release day for Phantasm box set.

Is it in my possession after ordering it months ago?
No.

Do HMV have it on the shelf?
Yes.

Is it cheaper from HMV?
Yes.By a fiver.

Has Arrow had my dosh for months?
Yes.

Wankers.
I stopped pre-ordering from them directly last year for this exact reason. I ordered some films last summer and it was a week after the release date and they hadn't been dispatched and they told me they were out of stock. Learned my lesson by the second time.

Am picking up my phantasm pre order from hmv on saturday. Come on then, how many on here actually bought it? It it as 'limited' as we all thought it would be? It's clearly not sold out as amazon etc have this and the House box still going at rrp! So how does the Burning steelbook & Nekromantik 1&2 sell out with ease while stuff like this (and TCM 2-what a set!!!!) still sit on shop shelves unsold?

Wondering what that release of The Thing will entail to make us all want it! Lol! Maybe it will destroy & take the shape of other blu rays in your collection!
Rik, Demoncrat, keirarts and 1 others like this.

I think (and I'll probably get crucified for this) it's too expensive. And the House set. Yes it works out at less than £10 a film for the House collection. Erm...but three of them are shit?? The Phantasm set? At £69.99 which is the price from most retailers, barring Arrow themselves who bizarrely are asking five pound more, is still £14 a film. Yes there's a book and (And I've not seen it yet) apparently a very cheap and tacky looking sphere, but so what? There are other versions available, and as has been frequently pointed out on here a lot couldn't care less about the books or booklets or fancy packaging. I really want it but I'm sick of forking out for limited edition this that and the next.

No one's mentioned the Academy announcements. I've never heard of it but Terror in a Texas Town sounds interesting. Couldn't care less about the other stuff.

Whilst I don't think it's too expensive as such, I do think it's full of unnecessary faffy tack, which in turn has driven up the price from what it would have been without it. I did actually have the set on pre-order at one point, but even with Amazon's BIGTHANKS £10 off code applied I thought it was too much to spend on a set such as this. I'm glad I decided to cancel as by the sounds of things it's far from great and the discs are in annoying CD sized sleeves and the ball is supposed to be very cheap looking/feeling too.

I'm hoping they pull a Hellraiser and release a trimmed down set without the sphere and the films in proper cases. However at 10,000 units I can't see this one selling out anytime soon. I may be grossly underestimating the draw of cheap plastic balls though.

Not really interested in those myself either. Like you say, TiaTT sounds the more interesting of the bunch, however it may be a clever ploy and the well placed description alluding to Noir that's suckering me into buying a dull western. One to rent methinks.

The thing with the Phantasm ball is that we all have one anyway from the dvd release.

So why would anyone want another?
