I'd just like to add that the scene with the brains was really quite menacing and well done.

More of this type of scares please.

The press seem to love the episode. The Guardian, Telegraph, Digital Spy, Den of Geek, Radio Times.

For Christmas... I got the Power!

Anyway, I watched the Doctor Who Power of the Daleks animated DVD. Hmm. I wasn't too keen on it at first, to be honest, and the animation particularly suffers in the post-regeneration scenes where you really, really, really need to see Troughton for real. The animation just doesn't capture how weird and even sinister that he comes across even in the telesnaps. However it does get better later on and makes this a a pretty enjoyable story, though I still suspect the real thing would be better.

I watched the first episode of Power of the Daleks.

Unlike Ian, i thought the animation was good. It was never going to be Pixar or Disney standard but it's better than any of the other animated episodes on other dvd's. Like the black and whiteness of it all. I have zero interest in seeking out the colour version.

What i did notice was the 5.1 surround mix was awesome, great credit to Mark Ayers for that one.

I'm watching the story in weekly doses as first aired.

The Whoniverse might be the best book i have on Doctor Who. Starting with it's beautiful foamy cover and lots of stunning illustrations.

Every single page is a feast for the eyes. Check out the Daemon and Terileptil below.

Really enjoying the short story compendium The Twelve Doctors of Christmas.

As it's in Doctor order i began with the first story featuring the Doctor, Barbara, Ian and Vicki in a heartwarming tale of Christmas past which practically brought a tear to my eye, and then went to the final story featuring the current incarnation.

This was a delight too as it featured an old enemy and tied itself in with the first episode from 2005 - Rose.

Much like the Time Lord Fairy Tales book both of these stories would have fit brilliantly into the series as it is now. Nice, simple stories without the nonsense.

Some lovely full colour plates for each tale as well.

Looks like the Movellans are in the upcoming Dalek story.

0.32 in the trailer. There's an explosion. They sport the same white outfits, wigs and weapons.

11 things we learned from the first Doctor Who series 10 trailer

Hmmm - looking at the landscape, could this be Vulcan, the planet in 'Power Of The Daleks'?

It wouldn't surprise me if this was from the Cyberman origins story.

Dem that looks stunning.

Just had a look on Amazon and there are two prices but they look like the same book, one for £14.99 and one £32.99. I can't figure out why.

At a guess mine is a first edition. Maybe the one at £14.99 doesn't have the foam cover.

The Vault came out with a foamy then standard cover...who knows really? The expensive one might even be the US version

I'd get the £14.99 one immediately. It's clearly on offer from Amazon.
