I was dreading the Christmas special, but I must admit I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

The new series trailer left me pretty underwhelmed, but I'm hoping Steven Moffat wiill go out on a high for his final series. We'll see. I feel this and Chibnall's first series are going to be crucial for the continued success of the show.

As a one off the special was fine, i just hope the series isn't going down the route of being too light as tonally since Capaldi took over the scripts have been all over the place. From those dreadful Girl Who / Woman Who episodes which were ill judged farce to the darker than dark Face the Raven and Heaven Sent.

Agreed! The other thing that worries me slightly about the new series is the character of Nardole. Judging by the Xmas special, what is the point of this character other than' Matt Lucas wants to be in Doctor Who' ?

I don't know, however i quite enjoyed the character so far so i'm not going to grumble.

Thought he was ok, nothing more. The return of the Movellans sounds fun though and I hope we can ( at long last ) have a decent Cybermen story.

Totally agree. They, like the Daleks, need to be the primary threat. Not Davros or Missy.
