![]() Passable? It was just like a classic Pertwee or Baker story. TARDIS lands Doctor finds human colony followed by classic era monster, action scenes, resolution, move on to next adventure.

I enjoyed it too and definitely agree it had a classic 70s Who vibe to it. Mark Gatiss divides opinion, but I personally feel he really 'gets' Dr Who and I've enjoyed all his episodes to date ( yes - even 'Sleep No More' ! )

Mark Gatiss is one of modern day Doctor Who's more prolific writers having written a total of nine stories for three Doctors. The Unquiet Dead (2005) The Idiot's Lantern (2006) Victory of the Daleks (2010) Night Terrors (2011) Cold War (2013) The Crimson Horror (2013) Robot of Sherwood (2014) Sleep No More (2015) Empress of Mars (2017) Despite his undoubted talent as showcased throughout his career from The League of Gentlemen to Sherlock, his Doctor Who output has been divisive to say the least. So with that anyone who's interested feel free to rank his nine stories from best to worst. For the record here's my list. Empress of Mars (2017) The Unquiet Dead (2005) Victory of the Daleks (2010) Cold War (2013) The Crimson Horror (2013) Night Terrors (2011) The Idiot's Lantern (2006) Sleep No More (2015) Robot of Sherwood (2014) I really enjoyed tonight's episode Empress of Mars and find Victory of the Daleks very underrated. In fact only Sleep No More and Robot of Sherwood border on poor in my opinion, but even they have their moments. I have no real reason for composing this post (well Mojo gave me the idea actually) except as a bit of fun. I wouldn't call Gatiss a favourite of mine, (he's just prolific). In fact i wouldn't call any of the new series writers favourites or at least not favourites in a Robert Holmes/John Lucarotti /Terry Nation sense. |

Moffat used to be a favourite up to around series 6 when he completely went off the boil... Gatiss is split nearly 50/50 for me. I like Unquiet Dead, Night Terrors and Crimson Horror, don't like his others (not seen Empress yet). |

I think Mark Gatissssss has a better Dr Who hit rate story wise than next head honcho Chris Chibnal myself. And Gatiss didn't manage to **** up an original Who alien race like Chibnal managed to with the Silurians. ![]()

I think you're forgetting the Fatleks. Much like the production team then hoped everyone would. ![]() |
