Classic Who is the third most popular cult TV show in terms of DVD/Blu ray sales, well ahead of New Who which languishes down at no. 10!

The Official Top 10 entertainment franchises of 2017 revealed

No wonder the BBC is keen on special editions and animations!

That will be because Power of the Daleks had a steelbook release in 2017 and Shada sold really well on top of sales of the however many classic dvds are currently on sale. Must be at least 140 currently on release.

The only nu-Who that came out in 2017 was a Christmas special which don't sell that well and series 10 in late Nov.

It's still a huge seller, however you look at it. Pretty much guarantees us another animation this year.

I did notice this just now in the blurb.

Quote:
Looking at TV franchises only, Game of Thrones finished head and shoulders above its closest rival, with 711,000 sales last year compared to 206,000 for Mrs Brown's Boys.

Cult sci-fi series Doctor Who and police drama Line of Duty also proved popular on DVD/Blu-ray, finishing at 3 and 4 respectively,
A difference of 500,000 sales between first and second. I wonder how many copies Doctor Who in third sold?

Nu-Who at #10 must have sold about 17 box sets. (I know i didn't buy it)
