...and not a bad movie, despite what mad John Carpenter worshipping fans say. I'm a big JC fan, and The Thing is one of my all time favourite movies, but the makers of The Thing 2011 clearly wanted to make a film that segues into the JC film. It works far better than X-men origins and First Class did to X-men.

The main gripe I have with The Thing 2011 is, as I've posted before, the reliance on CG.

Zavvi Bargain Codes

Zavvi Vouchers: Zavvi Discount Codes, Voucher Codes & Promotional Codes for DVDs, Blu-ray Movies & Games

I just checked the £4 off £40 or more voucher - it works.

I also then checked the 10% off on the same item, and it knocked me 10% off it.

So it looks like both codes are working, but hurry, they're only valid til April 10th.

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 5th April 2012 10:57 AM

That makes some pre-orders very interesting as I've just cancelled The Reptile, Plague of the Zombies, Demons and Demons 2, ordering them from HMV instead because they are – or were – cheaper.

That's weird. Not stacking up for me. I've tried a different code first but no go.

I've found before that these codes aren't valid on preorders, still might be worth a shot though.

Yeah it's in the small print, 10% off not valid on preorders

As there's nothing I want now, I'll leave the pre-orders at HMV.com as there's no I'm waiting until the Demons DVDs and BDs, The Reptile and Plague of the Zombies are released before ordering them – I want them as soon as possible!

The blurays look absolutely incredible for a show over 50 years old. Well worth an upgrade I suspect.

If you haven't already seen them in HD, the restored sound and picture are outstanding.

the blob 6th April 2012 08:42 PM

It was only £7.99 before but the original Taking Of Pelham 123 preorder is now down to a meagre £6.99 at Amazon!

Only season one is 17.95. All the others are £35.

If you've never seen 'em, you're in for a real treat. Best thing that's ever been put on TV.

Slippery Jack 6th April 2012 11:47 PM

Ah, fair enough. I was only on the hunt for season one for now. I'm sure the rest will follow soon . . .

Another Arrow bargain! KING OF NEW YORK ltd edit steelbook @ £13 on both HMV and amazon right now... I'd be very quick... seems an excellent price, next best is £21.95!!

Oh and looks like the Demons1+2 steely set is back up to £25 now

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 15th April 2012 10:00 AM

That's a great price! I ordered mine from HMV, so hopefully their price guarantee will kick in and I'll end up paying the low price without having to reorder.

The same should apply for any orders at Amazon.

Refused 15th April 2012 11:14 AM

It was £12.99 when I ordered it from HMV on the 4th. You're all chumps if you're paying £13. :tongue1:

Just so people know, this is just the four films (presumably 2 versions of each) but without any of the bonus discs

The latest steelbook (island of lost souls) is again a quid cheaper than amazon so Eureka get my money direct. Really really really looking forward to this one. Lifeboat was an excellent movie, no question, but IOLS is one of my faves; really chuffed its got the eureka treatment, the steelbook treatment and is due out shortly!
