I remember when I watched Dawn for the first time on the Intervision video, we had an older cousin come and visit us who was amazed that my parents would let me watch such ultra-violent filth.I told him I loved horror movies and wasn't scared or influenced by them in any way.He never let me forget this experience and always reminded me about 'the sickest film he'd ever seen round at my house'.Maybe I should have let him watch the copy of Zombie Flesh-Eaters that I rented out the same time as Dawn and gone for a double whammy!

I've heard things about the 156 min. version, but never seen it. Is there any reason why it couldn't be re-released in Blu?

while enjoyed the remake i do agree that the characters had no redeeming features, there were too many of them aswell. With original 4 main people were more than enough and their interaction and tight knittedness is what gave the film it's crowning pleasure. A small group confined to a large space. with complete run of it. the remake didn't even have a small attic appartment. For me The original wins.

The ironic thing was that I had a fear/healthy respect of sharks, so the zombie shark fight in Flesh Eaters just did my young head in..

I'm pretty sure the 156 minute cut is an unauthorised version combining all of the footage from the three official versions. I've not seen it, but I've heard it's a mess (understandably).

I completely agree, the feeling of invincibility you felt when they had the zombies under control was palpable for me, a superb cinema moment...

I think this 'Frankenstein' cut of Dawn was part of the 'Zombie Survival' DVD box set issued years ago in Germany and limited to something like 1000 copies. I actually owned one of these releases but eventually gave it away as superior editions of the individual films appeared elsewhere.

One of the discs did indeed feature a supposed complete and totally uncut print of Romero's horror hit.
Basically the domestic extended edit with the extra parts from Argento's version grafted in by some PC wiseguy associated with this particular European box set. However, the downside was this DVD only had a German language option so unless the viewer was familiar with Deutch dialogue then he or she was stuffed!
