No, seriously they decided they didn't want to be part of Cult Labs anymore and are preferring to do their promoting via social network sites instead
Strange decision.

I'll add to this, with my foot in both camps.

Now, I didn't pre-order The Beyond release. When the doo-doo hit the fan over the non-sepia intro, I decided not to buy it. Consumer choice. The problem was rectified and replacements were issued to those that had bought it. Problem solved for those who did (I hope, anyway). I however still haven't bought that release, maybe because I haven't got around to it (there's a lot of films to buy) or maybe subconsciously there's always been a bit of stigma attached to it that has made me click on another purchase before getting it.

These things do stick in your mind.

Now, with ZFE - my missus bought it me as a surprise for Xmas. I personally think it's a great release, and I personally don't think the missing 6 seconds is a big deal. I won't be asking for or expecting a refund or replacement. ***BUT*** ---

The fact that I don't care about the missing seconds is not the point. Consumer choice and consumer rights is. People didn't know about this until they bought it. Whatever finances people have, Blu-rays are not cheap. Reasonable, maybe - but not cheap.

Here's the thing - if I would have known before, I probably would have just bought the DVD edition.

I hate to make comparisons, but if you bought a new car and there was a tiny scratch that you didn't see at first, it would bug the shit out of you if the dealer had told you it was mint. If you went to a restaurant and bought steak and chips, but the waiter said 'were all out of salt and vinegar' you would think they'd gone mad. If you went to an escort agency and ordered a one-legged...

I'll stop.

my opinion of this whole issue is that i don't spend good money on Home Cinema equipment to be shafted by studios that don't check their final product properly and give us titles that have issues. I can't remember any titles off the top of my head that had to be replaced during the Laserdisc / DVD years. I'm an avid movie buff that loves all home video formats and really look into the titles that i'm buying to ensure that it's the best version there is.

I'm a fan of Arrow trust me because i love their output but QC really needs to be tighten but in all honesty they aren't the only ones to fluff their titles

Examples

Pirates of the Carribean : Curse of the Black Pearl - misframed scenes

Cliffhanger (UK) - reversed surround.channels

AVP- R (US) Unrated cut missing a few unrated scenes (compared to the unrated DVD version)

Gladiator - woeful transfer

The Beyond - Opening sequence colour timing completly wrong

Die Hard 2 (US) DTS-HR instead of MA on the disc on most players (MA doesn't flag up apparently)

Taken (all releases outside the US) no subtitles activate for the french speaking parts. They do on the US BD

Apocalypse Now (CAN) discs 1 and 2 were labelled incorrectly

Lawrence of Arabia (UK) as above

This is an ongoing list that i'm putting together

I had to get replacement DVD's from BU twice for the Chris Lee set and Blind Dead set. MGM UK had all those badly manufactured Terminator and Silence of the Lambs discs among others. Anchor Bay US with Opera. ABUK with the Amicus collection and all the scratched discs/bad hubs which must have cost a fair packet. There have been a fair few DVD ones but in all these cases, replacements were sent out no problem, even internationally.

Like the recent fault with the Cabin in the Woods BD, Sainsbury's(via Lionsgate) sent me out a replacement disc AND a brand new copy, free of charge, without me having to contact them, they contacted me about it!

Yeah I still know of people who never got their ZFE. Its stuff sent out with incorrect address labels mark my words.

Had a thought regarding the six seconds issue.

If Arrow are going to press more discs of this (even just the standard version) surely fixing the issue, making more and sending them to customers would be the soultion.

Sometimes being an arrow fan is like supporting a habitual drunk, their busy downing vodka as you stand there defending them..
