I buy some occult self published books. Even in a self limiting genre such as this some stuff is just too weird and niche for named occult publishers to print and make any form of profit. That said, quite a few would have benefited from an editor.

The "Pan Book of Horror Stories" is a nice find. I always keep one eye open for them in charity shops but they rarely turn up. The great thing about 'em, apart from the brilliant covers, is the range of the horror stories in them; from Gothic through humorous to psychological with every shade in between. One of my favourite ever stories is from a Pan anthology, it's called "Old Feet" and tells of a man who looks in the tea urn at work (because the tea always tastes a bit odd) and pulls out a foot in a sock. It is written in such a "matter-of-fact" style that it seems like the writer is telling it to you over a pint in the pub!

Strangely enough I have also read "The Devil's Coach-Horse" but so long ago that I couldn't tell you anything about it! It was written in the days of "The Rats", "Slugs", "Night of the Crabs" and other such "creature features". I used to get through 2 or 3 of 'em during a week of night shifts.

Enjoy, Mr. Harker, enjoy!

The Pan books and other such horror anthologies are great for just dipping in and out of although the first story in this edition is pretty poor.

I ordered the last book in Robert Svobodas Aghora trilogy today, can't wait to finally read it!

If you're interested in Hinduism and kind of extreme worship these books are a good read.

Yes! The first one is probably the best one.
