Just home from seeing The Raid. Everybody has to see this film, no exceptions. When the screening finished, some dude just went "well... **** me!" It's just full on unrelenting balls out action. Makes Crank look like a Gus Van Sant film.

"Harry Brown". Basically "Death Wish" on a sink estate. Wildly reactionary in tone, as Michael Caine offs loads of hoodies who have less of a back story or attempt of characterisation than your average background zombie in an undead flick. That said, I rather enjoyed it, mainly for the constant potty mouth rants by criminals and coppers alike. My favourite one being along the lines of "he's a ****, his dad's a **** and one day he'll have loads of cunty kids". Sadly, Sir Michael didn't get to say it.

"Blitz". Great cast, Paddy Considine, Aidan Gillen, David Morrissey and, er, Jason Statham. A serial killer is killing coppers, will rogue cop Statham stop him? You decide. So full of plot holes and lacking in logic, at times I couldn't tell if it was taking the piss out of the genre or nobody gave a **** as to what was happening on screen. Statham is truly awful as the burnt out copper breaking all the rules, decked out in a nice brown cardie, he's like a sack of spuds who sprouts homophobic bollocks to his gay boss at any given moment. His boss, seems to enjoy this for some strange reason. My theory is he liked the scene in "The Transporter" where Statham gets all homoerotic and rolls around the floor with loads of men, shirtless and covered in oil. Then again I've always figured action films to be gay porn for straight men who don't actually know they're gay. Anyhow, I enjoyed it over all, no matter how daft it seemed on viewing and even more so on reflection.

I found Blitz to be a bit Meh, kind of like a low rent british rip off of Dirty Harry, Considine was great as was Aiden Gillen who plays creepy very well. As for the action movies are gay porn for straight men, i resent that comment as i am straight as they come and love action movies especially with all those buff men heaving and panting in the sun while sweat drips down their shirtless bodies....(cough)...i mean all the gun fire and explosions...

Run, Man, Run!/Corri uomo corri - Sergio Sollima's final western, and a damned good one. Superb characters and fine performances. Tomás Milián is exceptional in his second time around as Cuchillo and he is in no way let down by the rest of the cast. Great film.

I really like the political Spaghettis! ¡Viva la Revolución!

Unfotunately my local has decided not to screen the raid (not surprising, half the chavs in my town react badly to "foreign" films) So it looks like i'm going to have to make a day of it and get the train to manchester.

Watched dracula prince of darkness last night. Nice on bluray
and decent extras too. While not my favourite hammer film, its still
head and shoulders above some of the crap that's out now. Roll on the reptile and
Plague of the zombies. Have zombie from blue underground lined up for
this weekend.
