THE DEADLY FEMALES - Female assasins for hire kill their way through the ultra-seventies looking English suburbs in a kind of softcore-minus-any-porn-really effort from D Winter. If that sounds even remotely like fun then be warned, this movie is utterly dreary... perhaps on the other side of the world it might've been made by John Waters and been fun or interesting or something. Actually, let me rewind a little and say, whilst 'The Deadly Females' isn't at all fun, consisting as it does mainly of alienated couples moaning at each other in their living rooms, it IS sort of interesting for being depressing, nihilistic, disjointed and nonsensical, and for featuring a couple of kill scenes which look and feel really bleak. It also throws in a few cack handed 'arthouse' touches, such as recurring newspaper headlines describing terrorist atrocities (the subtext being this is all about 'gender warfare'). As bad as it is, I found my mind kept returning to it - more so than with an infinitely superior film I watched at the same time, 'Blue Steel'.
