I liked Deader.
Hellworld for me is the epitome of the phrase 'tacked on'

Cellar Dweller (1988)

The story involving a deceased artists (Jeffrey Combs) work which comes alive as he's drawing it in the form of a demon which then goes on a rampage. Thirty years later a new artist (Deborah Farentino) takes up where Combs left off and the cellar dweller strikes terror once more.

Daft as a brush Full Moon like movie which somehow snagged the great Yvonne De Carlo for a leading role. Cellar Dweller is a typically fun late 80's horror film. Chock full of rubber monsters and gloopy effects which would have been ruined as cheap and nasty CGI recreations nowadays. The whole thing is imaginative with gratuitous gore, nudity and scenery chewing.

Brilliantly the film makers adopt the old Universal approach and inform us that 'A Good Cast is Worth Repeating' as the end credits role.

Indeed tis a wacky little film. Acquired it in a 4 pack that I bought for Ragewar and was pleasantly entertained for the duration!

Shadow Of A Doubt (Hitchcock)
Hitch's personal favourite is a strange film to watch nowadays. Foreshadowing some of the darker motifs in the later cannon whilst retaining a veneer of respectability as 'just' a thriller . Joseph Cotten's sofly spoken performance is the grit in this really rather rancid oyster. Teresa Wright is bored and restless. Small towns can do that to you. So when her debonair uncle resurfaces ... is this a chance to see the outside world, even if it is through his eyes?
Not as out there as Vertigo or the one with the hotel ... this is still at its core a gaze into the abyss.
Extreme Cinema. Something else he invented then. Not a great place to start (see The Lodger ) but a great example of an artist beginning to flex his muscle.
