I've seen quite a few films recently and have now finished the second season of Battlestar Galactica but, amongst those films, were:
Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus -- not much of the events described in the title, but one of the more enjoyable of the films released by The Asylum
Mega Pirahna -- completely inept and really amateur hour as far as filmmaking is concerned
Zombie Lake -- terrible in many ways but simultaneously quite brilliant and surprisingly very enjoyable.
Stonehenge Apocalypse -- as far as films made for the SyFy channel go, this is pretty good and very watchable.
And Soon the Darkness (2010) -- a decent remake of the 1970 British thriller of the same name
Phenomena -- not Dario Argento's finest hour but extremely watchable and with an excellent Blu-ray package from Arrow Video.

Yeah, I do appreciate the skill of the FX team in movies like this but this was a struggle to get through. So many scenes that were shock for shock sake.

Debbie Gibson! Mmmmmmmmm. I'm actually looking forward to Mega Python vs. Gatoroid, which stars both Tiffany and Debbie Gibson. An 80's boys dream film.

I'm expecting it to be rubbish but so incredibly watchable (and perhaps re-watchable) that it could be worth a blind buy.

I haven't seen Mega Piranha yet, only the trailer, and I was gobsmacked at the awfulness of it. I can't wait to see the both of them in one film.

Glad you enjoyed it Nos. All it needs is the deluxe Arrow treatment now

After seeing films like Mega Piranha etc. I'm looking forward to Sharktopus and any new dodgy aquatic CGI-fests now; so much fun!

Well I was rather surprised .. I really enjoyed it! The whole story was played straight with none of the stupid comedy moments you tend to see. For a relatively small budget the crew did a cracking job ... ace special F/X and the creature design by Woodruff and Gillis was wonderful.

Not quite Cloverfield, but overall a good movie and well worth a watch.

If I did have a criticism it would be that the sound design could have done with a little more separation. Also, the film should perhaps have ended 5 minutes earlier. I won't spoil it for anyone, but those who have seen it will know what I mean.
i really liked it, i thought it should have been longer with a higher budget but the Visuals were stunning. Amazed that the film was made for $10.5mil and 10 of those 10.5 were on visual FX.
