The Round-up/Szegénylegények - 1965 Hungary d:Miklós Jancsó

Can't believe it has taken me so long to see this masterpiece. We're talking world class, "Best Ever" list standard films here. Simply exceptional. There really isn't anything else to say.

Night of the Hunted. michty! Never before has "eroticism" bored me as rigid. Loved it though. Go figure.

Abraham Lincoln Vs Zombies. This curious blend of history lesson and siege film had me fairly entertained for it's duration, as it contains lots of headshots and boobs. Something that is sadly lacking from most films i watch...

(The Legend of) Fong Sai Yuk (US edit)
Fist of legend (US edit?)
Kung Fu (Cult) Master

I will probably be getting the HK dvd's of Fong Sai-Yuk 1 + 2 and Kung Fu Cult Master asap...
Fist of Legend was not bad at all but not really my thing I guess, still interesting to see Jet Li's freestyle fighting though.

Watched Sick Nurses. Extremely odd movie. Not sure if I enjoyed it or not.

I watched Fight For Your Life for the first time last night.

It seemed like an exercise in "How many times can we say a racist term before it becomes laughable and as offensive as the Muppets".

It was truly jaw dropping in its stupidness. William Sanderson was the leader of a gang of three Village People rejects who take an African/American family hostage.

Sanderson himself was so funny and scrawny looking that grandma looked meaner and i was sure she was going to take him out at several points of this turgid film.

Never at any point did any threat really break out, a rape was as nasty as it got really and there are far worse depictions of rape in anything from Death Wish to The Gauntlet. Virtually every home invasion film i have seen is edgier and more nerve shredding than this. House on the Edge of the Park and Last House on the Beach to name two are far sleazier and nastier than this.

In the end Fight for Your Life made South Park feel hardcore.

This seems to be the view of the film, increasingly, but I still rate it. One of the best few films on that list, I think. But it's no Death Weekend.

Can you imagine David Hess kindly locking the dog in the closet to keep it out of the way?
