FORCED ENTRY is pretty unpleasant. Nipple piercing aside, TOR didn't really bother me that much.

Watched DARK KNIGHT RISES. Avoided reading much about it before hand as I was promised a big surprise in the film, only to find as a long-time batman reader I guessed the reveal pretty quickly. Nontheless I felt it maintained the high-quality of the previous entries. Lots of praise is certainly due to anne hathaway who made an excellent catwoman, and also tom hardy (who I had no problems understanding) who managed to make a weak one-dimensional character like bane interesting to watch. (I never rated the character in the comics and always felt he came across as second rate compared to a most other bat-villains). For me this stand up their with the previous Nolan batman movies and all the marvel stuff, including the AVENGERS, as great examples of how to bring superheroes to the screen properly.

There's a point in the movie when the camera points to a dolls head on a piece of green carpet, and a discordant synth note strikes up on the soundtrack - that for me is the key to this film. If such an incongruous, pointless but somehow jarringly weird little fragment gives you a lift, then you've got this movie licked.
I have to agree.

I saw it for the first time fairly recently and everything about it just clicked with me. The tone and atmosphere were wonderful and the simple, honed down story with minimal exposition was right up my street.

In its way, a very beautiful film.

I presume Axe isn't to be conffused with Axe'em? A movie I despise with a vengeance.

No, Axe was one of the infamous Video Nasties and was released under a few different titles(not to be confused with another film called Axe that is available over here on a reversible disc with a truly shocking looking print of Pieces)

Last night I watched Vampire Girl Vs Frankenstein Girl, as recommended by my bands bass player. For those that haven't seen it, it's another Japanese gorefest in the same vain as Tokyo Gore Police and is one the best films I've seen this year, very gory, very funny, very strange and very recommended.
I'll post some stills from it later when I've returned from taking my son to see the new Spiderman film

Watched the Sci fi channel's Masters Of Horror doc. Meh, apart fae Carpenter's "blueprint" for inspiration cough cough, Campbell does his usually stoic "stare hard at camera and project" bit (just like in that shiiiiiitey The Woods, only watched it to the end because of him...never again) Apart fae Argento, the typical US bias came to the fore.

also watched The Big Zapper. now THERE'S a film.

'The Big Zapper' sounds hilarious, from what I've read. The clip on YouTube makes me wish it was available.

Used to, darling. Used to!

(That is, of course, if it's me you are referring to - note spelling of my name! If you are referring to someone else, forget what I have said, and ignore this post!!!)
