I reviewed my old 'Shriek Show' DVD, but I'm aware that a blu-ray exists.
I'm surprised to hear that it's banned in Australia - the necrophilious aspect isn't really explicit (certainly not in a Buttgereit full on corpse shagging kind of way). From a UK perspective, I think it'd pass at 18 these days.

I saw the first hour of Dark Shadows on a flight back from Miami and it was really good - the best Tim Burton I've seen since Ed Wood, and I started out hoping to dislike the film. I gotta rent this out and finish it...

The Handmaid's Tale (1990) - because I couldn't be bothered to read the book, a nice film if you haven't read the book but I suspect the book is better.

Repulsion (1965) - Great film but not my favourite Polanski. If I was considering the "Apartment Trilogy" The Tenant would be number 1 for me with this second.

Rivals (2000) - Made for TV true movie about a teenage girl getting caught up in a volatile relationship. Interesting story, acting is fine (although I usually prefer badly acted made for TV movies), on reflection it was really good.

Creepshow (1982) - I've seen it a million times but couldn't resist recording it as it was on a HD channel.

Beetlejuice (1988) - see above. I love Tim Burton but not really after Sleepy Hollow. I did like Sweeney Todd - A woman started discussing the film in Smiths as I was talking to my Grandad about it, she said there was more music in it than she expected, I said it was adapted from the Sondheim musical, she said there was still too much music. Anyway, I do also want to see Dark Shadows, has anyone seen it? if so, how did you like it? and have you ever watched the TV show?

The Night Child (1975) - I'm sure a lot of members will have watched this recently, fantastic film, I already want to watch it again.

'Repulsion' is pretty much my favourite film of all time. I think its depiction of madness and its onset is unparalleled.

That's good, anyone I have spoken to that has seen it has said they didn't like it, at the same time none of them were aware of the TV show!

Did the TV show play in the UK ? I don't ever remember it being on any of the 4 channels...

"The OFLC gave BEYOND THE DARKNESS an RC in 1992 after customs forwarded them a seized copy. High-level violence and the necrophilia story line would have to be the reason for this decision.

Joe D'Amato's EMANUELLE IN AMERICA and EMANUELLE AND THE LAST CANNIBALS were both heavily cut by the Australian censors, and his CALIGULA: THE UNTOLD STORY was issued in a soft version on video. There is also a report of ANTHROPOPHAGOUS: THE BEAST being taken by customs."

I think What? is the only early Polanski dud, the others I really like, but Macbeth is my favourite, truly a dark masterpiece...

No, it was never on, well certainly not in my time. But because it was such a huge, somewhat strange, cult show, I had come across it I have got some on DVD, I have the collection volume 1. I was hoping after the film it might be a bit more readily available but well I suppose the film didn't do too well. There is now a complete collection, although I'm not sure if it really means complete, £275, I'll wait for the lottery win.

Yeah, me too Sharon, I'd love to dive into this but I could never afford it. I probably would never have the time anyway but yeah, the show does look intriguing...
