I saw Hammer's "Dracula" on a double bill with "Night of the Demon" at the cinema on Saturday night. For those who think the fire demon should have been left out of NOTD, see it on the big screen...the demon looks fantastic in the long shots, truly otherworldly and threatening.

On Saturday night I watched Brain Damage. Not a bad film, but not amazing: started off a bit boring to be honest until Aylmer appeared and the guy started to screech woo while tripping balls.
Yesterday I watched Dawn of the Dead, nothing really to say that has already been said.

Watched Night of the Demons (1987) and Trick'r Treat last night. When they finished I stuck on a load of horror movie related documentaries. Ended up having a late night

Thunder Squad aka Wild Team (Umberto Lenzi, 1985) 23rd (or 22nd cough) Century dvd I found in cash Generators.
The print is heavily cut apparently, being that it lasts 83 odd minutes, where I believe it is closer to the 90 min mark??

A total hoot regardless, and I will enjoy hunting down a complete copy. Action did ye say?? Wildly innapropriate score did ye ask? By the guy who stunned us with his ST to What Have They Done To Your Daughters? Check!!

Also watched Amityville II finally. Tis cut, but looks reasonable, if a little dark imo.
Also watched Begotten, but wasn't in the mood, so put on Doriana Grey aka Die Marquise von Sade (1976). Cthulhu, he loves her fanny.

The Fog. I've always wanted to see the orignal cut of this. Never really noticed just how Lovecraftian this was until this time cough.....

The Haunting Of Julia aka Full Circle (1977, Richard Loncraine) Tisa's sister and the bloke from 2001 have a rather lackadasical attitude to child safety it seems, which sets up this nice wee ghost story. not a film I remembered at all, haven't found much a bout it either dvd wise, shame!!! Based on a Peter Straub story etc.

Stoker

I didn't have the highest hopes for this and had heard it described as an average western debut. Personally I thought it was great and had Chan-wook Park stamped all over it. Hope he makes another movie soon...next time set in Europe.

So, last night I watched Ghostbusters for the 1000th ish time and today, whilst at work with my fellow Fringian*, we find out that one of the original Ecto 1's from the film is gonna turn up in the next couple of days to be restored by the guy who works in the unit next to the one we work out of, and will be stored about 10 feet away from our workspace.
To say that I was a little bit excited by this is the understatement of the century! As soon as that bad boy turns up, I'll be having umpteen photos took inside it and probably won't get any work done knowing that a car from one of my Top 5 films of all time will be parked up and staring right at me all day

Jack the Ripper

Great looking German BD. Charmingly ridiculous Franco effort - all the dry ice in Switzerland couldn't make any of these scenes pass for London. On the other hand, Klaus Kinski is utterly convincing as ever...one creepy looking guy (I prefer Death Smiled at Murder though).

Watched Squirm today. What a ridiculous silly stupid film.
It was bloody brilliant! and I can't believe I hadn't heard of this before Arrows excellent release.

Maniac cop

We have genre stalwarts Bruce Campbell and Tom Atkins, in what is part cop movie and slasher and works well on both levels. Have found memories of renting this from my local video store.

Matt Cordell might not be as well knowing as Jason, Michael or Freddy but that doesn't stop him being one of my favourites. The manic cop music is also very distinctive and another highlight. 8.5/10
