I like Kat Ellinger personally. I discovered her years ago when she did a podcast about Jess Franco and Jean Rollin. Her comm tracks are everywhere these days though, I have more than I can count in my collection.

Default December 24th Christmas Eve

Night Killer (1990)

Completely barking mad slasher film from the prolific Claudio Fragasso with additional sleaze filmed by the even more prolific Bruno Mattei because the producers thought it sucked, er wasn't exploitative enough.

What we end up with on screen in this giallo esq, inane body count movie are seemingly hundreds of ropy chest wounds, obscene phone calls, topless women and dodgy rubber masks.

Night Killer is trash cinema at it's finest, when people say "So bad it's good" this is what they mean. There's little to recommend Night Killer but it's great fun. Unhinged, bemusing, logic free trash cinema and i loved it. This is what makes Christmas Eve!

I felt the same D.

The Invisible Maniac (1990, Rif Coogan)

A nebbish finds he has created something special. What he chooses to do with it isn't
Leaving his past behind, he rocks up as a teacher to a bunch of preppy scum whose main purpose in life is to be cannon fodder (TF). Silly and crass in parts, I enjoyed this far more than that Matrix cack.

Just Before Dawn. 1981.

Five people go camping in the woods and are hunted by a machete wielding madman.

This is a mix of Friday 13th with the machete and Deliverance, set in the backwoods of Oregon makes it feel atmospheric and close to isolation with nowhere to hide or run. George Kennedy plays the local park forest ranger who tries to keep the peace. The acting from the naive teens are not bad, usual they start being annoying then slowly warm up to them it doesn't really rely on jump scares but suspense is built up well and perfect cinematography, One I will watch again.

It’s a great little gem from Jeff Lieberman who also did the cult films Blue sunshine, even tho the acting in that a tadge cheesy and corny, in blue sunshine not just before Dawn.

Shouldn’t be disappointed, it’s a gem of film and certainly different,

No Time To Die. 2021.

Daniel Craig's last outing as James Bond and what a way to exit, I have enjoyed Craig's outing as Bond except Quantum Of Solace but i'm sure we have our non favourites on Bond movies.

Rami Malek seems to have the mentality of Dr No and sinister plan like Hugo Drax, but does make a decent enemy except every time he spoke had to turn the volume up a bit. Is it just me or did they play a few homages to other Bond movies with Judi Dench and Robert Browne along with O.H.M.S.S.? Ralph Fiennes does a decent job even though he does utter a bit of a swear word. I agree with some about the long opening and running time surely that could have been shorter.
