Ray Cusick for those that don't know was a legend of sci-fi.

He created these way back in 1963.

It's amazing how many people associate Terry Nation with everything to do with the Daleks, not realising this is the guy who actually designed the look of them. A totally unique, classic, iconic design which has barely changed a jot in 50 years.

RIP

There's a good reason why the Daleks have never changed design to the degree of sci-fi icons. They can still garner terror if employed correctly even now (see Army of Ghosts cliff hanger).

Totally agree Hawk. Army of ghosts was brilliant cliffhanger, sent tingles up my spine.

Russell T Davies was brilliant at setting up two parters, far better than Moffat, its just a shame he could never deliver the perfect final episode to wrap things up.

The great thing about it is that although there was no prior indication until the arrival of the Cybermen the idea was so outlandish that even if anyone had thought of it it would have been 'hushedhushed' by everyone. One of the best kept secrets in Doctor Who history.

Going off this forthcoming toy it would appear the Ice Warriors head is going to be exactly the same as in the original series.

It seems that there is a rumour going round that the 50th anniversary episode will include a live segment - i.e one that isn't recorded beforehand!

No idea on the truth behind this
