Private Eye have always been spot on in their writing about Doctor Who.

I wonder who exactly is slashing the mags budget? Panini or Worldwide? Sounds like Worldwide when you look into why Spillsbury left. Pity as he was a good editor.

The Daily Mole are reporting this as well

Doctor Who Dalek operator sacked for magazine article | Daily Mail Online

Helpfully, they have re-printed the magazine article and highlighted the 'offending letters' so it's easier to read!

What a complete and utter tool Pegg must be. Mind it does seem the norm for Sci-Fi shows like Doctor Who and star trek to be infested with morons like this.

I think he spoke for many in the 1980s and, judging by social media, there are a lot of people out there who share his views on a non-male Doctor Who even now.

Agree 80s was a different time, but I'm willing to give her a chance she could just be what the show needs , depending on the writing etc but also it could be a nail in the coffin of who if shes not writing right .

The thing is my mum said a female Doctor is unthinkable. I also would have preferred a male Doctor again. However we have what we have and i'll give Jodie a chance in fact i'm looking forward to seeing her in the role.

It's all going to depend on the stories as people will tune into the first episode guaranteed.

Part me does think some of it was a publicity stunt to try to get new viewers and old viewers back to the show, but as you say it all depends on how good the pilot will be.
