All of Al's work just blurs into one big lump. Noted. I nearly picked the other JF from this year

Possibly. 1968 had Night of the Living Dead and Rosemary's Baby but there really wasn't a US horror film of note until The Exorcist in 1973.

One that will be on my list is Waris Hussein's underrated thriller The Possession of Joel Delaney, starring Shirley McClane. At the time, she was the preferred choice of either the studio or William Friedkin (I forget which) for the role of Regan MacNeil but they didn't want her in two 'possession' films in two years, so she was taken off that shortlist and the rest is history.

I actually thought about watching that last night. The Network disc has a Newman / Jones commentary and i knew i'd want to listen to that as well but really didn't have time so went with the Ida Galli / Analia Gade film Murder Mansion instead.

That's the disc I have and, although it has been quite a few years since I listened to it, I am almost certain it is a typically well delivered and information-packed commentary track, and one of the reasons why I made a meant note to prioritise any release with a commentary by Kim Newman and Alan Jones.

My faves are I Walked With a Zombie, The Old Dark House and Halloween II.

Oh, revisiting all my discs with a Newman-Jones commentary and ranking those commentaries would be an enjoyable, but impossible, task!

I heard one Newman did with Stephen Jones for H3 .... and I'm fairly sure it's them on TODH as well btw
Alan's voice is distinctive imo

Have you seen this page before from Kim's website?

https://johnnyalucard.com/non-fiction/dvd-notes/

I actually bought the cut UK Sanctuary release of Halloween III purely for the commentary.
