I think you just need to face up to the fact that this film might, in fact, be a bit boring . . .

The Conformist (1970, Bernardo Bertolucci) - One of the most beautifully shot movies of the 70s as far as usage of color goes. Coppola watched this film many times in preparation of making The Godfather and even hired Vittorio Storaro to do the cinematography in Apocalypse Now because of his work in this film. It makes a great double feature with The Godfather because of the grim nature as well. A Fascist in Italy is sent to kill his old professor, then stuff happens and we learn more about our protagonist along the way. Good stuff.

The Heart of the World (2000, Guy Maddin) - Delightfully off-kilter and interesting, which is something that I am growing to love from Guy Maddin as I search through his offerings. Clocking in at 6 minutes, it flies by. You probably need to watch it twice to really appreciate it and catch all of the references to silent films from Germany and Russia. It makes me want to watch more of those films as well. I think I shall do that. Fritz Lang and Sergei Eisenstein here I come.

I rewatched Neil Marshall's the Descent for the first time in ages. Still a great film with bags of atmosphere, think I'll check out the underrated sequel tomorrow.

I have to agree with troggi on this one, i quite like Phase IV,ok as an ants taking over the world film it's quite restrained, but i found it to be an interesting, well shot little sci-fi number. I first saw it when i was quite young and remembered it enough to want to check it out again last year, i still liked it when i saw it again.

I am so relieved to hear the voice of reason once again, thank you, thank you!

Ha! In your face all ye doubters of mine sanity! I do not stand alone upon this pinnacle of righteous indignation for lo! There is another believer in the one true ant film!

I really enjoyed phase IV

Its a bit of a slow burner but I thought it got really creepy as the ants kept getting more advanced..

The Castle Of Fu Manchu. Jess in hired hand mode. Only put it on watch the docs (BU), but just had to. Proves when given the funds, he could bring the shit as I believe rappers used to say in the 90s

Over the past 2 days I have watched:

The Seventh Seal:
I don't think I can say anything that hasn't already been said, so to some it up in a single word - Brilliant.

Aladdin:
I don't think anyone can go wrong with a Disney film (there was no such thing as straight to video releasing ). Nice animation, good music and Robin Williams.

They Live:
One of John Carpenters best films and if anyone wants one single reason to watch it then it has to be due to the brilliantly shot fight scene between Keith David and Roddy Piper.

The Happiness of the Katakuris:
Loved it, me and my mate watched this last night and just couldn't help but laugh ourselves stupid, over the top with some of the most entertaining songs you could possibly imagine as well as some of the best stop motion scenes I have ever seen. You can never go wrong with Takashi Miike.
