And don't try to work it out as you're watching it - just go with it. It stays with you, and you'll be itching for a rewatch.
Probably the best horror film of the last 25 years.

Frank (2014): I know a lot of people where kinda beffudled by the trailers for this film. Don't be, it's not Frank Sidebottom. Just someone wearing a mask like his, hinted as having been inspired by the TV host.

This movie is pure, unadulterated emotion. It's a film that sing's about how society percieves mental illness and disability, how these people try to find some way to express themselves but often get cut off or derided by society, how cruel anonymity on the internet can be to said people, lack of social acceptance, different perspectives on love and relationships, how seriously screwed the music industry is currently and so on and so forth. I could gush about this movie for ages because it was just wonderful. The humour is darkly british and biting, often remorsless but ultimately it's all sweetend by the fact that the leads just don't give a **** what the world thinks of them. Wonderful, wonderful film.

Lost highway

Fantastic, great imagery and use of sound with a great soundtrack a truly haunting and disturbing film, don't ask me if understood it because I don't , but that didn't stop my enjoyment. Oh why did it take me so long to get around to watch lynches films. Will definitely try to give this another wach this weekend along with the rest of the movies in the boxset. Was very sad seeing how ill Richard Pryor looked what I believe was his last role. 10/10

Next up the purge which will be my first time watching.

I understood it. yer right. Well seemed to at the time.
I'm always the same with a lot of Lynch movies. While i'm watching them i build up a theory and a reason. When i get to the end i'm like yep i got that sorted.
The trouble is the next time i watch it there's a new theory creeping in.
I don't know whether that makes sense, but i think Lynch is a true surrealist who follows his instincts, a mix of dream, thought and real life.
A lot of his films are truly works of art, you get out of them what you put in.
This is the reason i love his film's. There really is not many directors these days that are well recognised but just do their own sh*t regardless.

I just thought about that and are more auteurs than I first considered:

Quentin Tarantino
Martin Scorsese
Lars von Trier
The Coen Brothers
Aki Kaurismäki
Ridley Scott
Jim Jarmusch
Wong Kar-wai
Terence Malick
François Ozon
Mike Leigh
Ken Loach
David Cronenberg
Pedro Almodóvar

There are probably lots more, but these are just the ones that came to mind.
