One of the benchmarks for 4k ultra with a fantastic Dolby atmos sound track and classic film too boot. 10/10

Enjoyable and uplifting if not historically accurate, but hey it's a musical not a biopic, nice 4k transfer and great use of Dolby atmos. 7/10

7/10

7.5/10

Japan's take on hammers Dracula , here a man vists his girlfriend only too find out she has died, when the man doesn't come back home his sister and her boyfriend set out too find him. A nice gothic atmosphere with a Japanese twist. 6.5/10

Let down by some poor writing and some dreadful cgi and very poor bad guy. 6.5/10

That song , as to Burroughs, I've got too many books to read.
Anyway
964 Pinocchio
A sex robot is ditched and has no memory. He teams up with a woman and what starts as friendship turns into a nightmare as she tortures him. Also the company who made him want him back.
Like Tetsuo The Iron Man, this is a mind ****. I still ain't 100% sure what the hell was going on, but it was a ride.

Exquisite Corpse (2010)

When a young scientist discovers a serum that can revive dead tissue, he plans to resurrect his girlfriend, who drowned, but he soon realizes that to save her life he needs fresh serum from the living.

Basically a less gloopy Re-Animator rip off. Exquisite Corpse is a decent enough time waster with competent acting and likable characters but not particularly a film you'd ever re-visit.

Apologies to all the Jean Rollin fans out there but i thought this was, for want of a better word - rubbish. Pretentious and plotless with two very unmemorable girls in Christiane Coppé and Laurence Dubas as leads, this was a disappointment all round, only the bloody finale with a sexy cameo from Rollin regular Brigitte Lahaie, nodded towards the directors earlier and far superior work.

Leaving the Gothic castles and beaches behind (obviously there is a beach in this one - there had to be, just not for very long) Rollin goes for a landscape of Ballard esq tower blocks, urban decay and er the docks, which he utilized better in both earlier The Night of the Hunted (tower blocks) and later works Killing Car (Urban decay / docks).

Sadly as a sexy thriller this fails and as a doomed romance it's, well, doomed.
That was one of the few Jean Rollin films i never bothered importing. Was going to pick up ScreenBound's instead, but you've put me off now.

By all means give it a go. It sadly didn't do an awful lot for me. There was too much sitting about watching people dance on a stage, it never really hit it's stride until the last fifteen minutes or so.

I thought the similarly themed Night of the Hunted from the year previous and his later effort Killing Car which also has the odd similarity were far superior efforts.

What i'm trying to say is if you like either of these or his other non-Vamp stuff then you should give it a go.

Okay, i might add it to my wish list. Hopefully, it won't be that long until it ends up in HMV's 5 for £30 deal.

Never seen Killing Car. But i did enjoy Night of The Hunted, and The Iron Rose, which had loads of atmosphere despite no vampires either.

Rubber's Lover
A corporation do experiments with psychic powers, by drugging patients with ether, hooking them up to a drive and bombarding them with sound. One subject blows his mind and loses his memory. The corporation plan to close it so the people kidnap a secretary in order to complete the experiment.
Again another mind ****, however unlike 964 Pinocchio, it's more coherent plotwise. Still strange as all hell, but one I would recommend.

I thought you'd been watching one of bizarre_eye's 'special' films.
