What Films Have You Seen Recently?

enjoyed it just as much as when i saw it at the cinema, for me its in the top 4 star wars movies. a lot tighter than force awakens and actually tries to do something a little different than the other films. the Casino scene i didn't find as bad this time round but its really just there to develop Finns character to make him see the world is not black and white. most of the characters develop from force, Poe finding out he needs to think and stopping being so head strong but the most development comes from Kylo Ren who decides to take control of his own destiny, Adam Driver gives a great performance something that cant be said about Daisy Ridley who was very wooden. the film is visual stunning in places Snokes Throne room and the end battle. Dont get me started on the awful "mary poppins" scene but this made up from some wonderful scenes, one with Luke and a certain someone, the scene with Luke and Artoo on the Falcon and of course the wonderful scene between Luke and Leia which brought a tear to my eye again.

watching again noticed a few things , why doesn't Luke have a green lightsaber anymore, when Finn is getting Blankets on the Falcon you notice some strange looking books could these be some of the lost jedi texts that Luke had and it was also mentioned the when Ren left Luke he took some of the trainees with him, i wonder what happened to them, could there be other dark Jedi about. 8.5/10

Went to see this on Saturday, was not expect much after the some what lacklustre trailer i saw. But it was only 4.99 and i glad i did.

It really is a film that needs to be seen on the big screen. it really is a love letter for geeks, gamers and children of the 80s, if you are none of those its still a fun film, but you won't get a lot of the easter eggs etc that litter the film. you name it it probably in the movie someplace,the standout one being the whole Shining scene set in the overlook. you can spend the entire film seeing what, what and still end up missing a lot of the references etc. heard some complaints about the CGI but it fits the film perfectly with it being VR and really shouldn't look realistic. its good to see that Spielberg can still make the film that made his name, the family pleasing block buster, might not be up there with the likes of ET etc but still a great film and one i look forward to adding to my collection. 8.4/10

No Name on the Bullet (1959)

Audie Murphy stars as John Gant, a hired killer who rides into a town where no one is sure whose name is on his bullet. Several townsfolk all with murky pasts believe it's them he's come for.

An intriguing little thriller, perhaps short on action but still high in suspense as paranoia quickly takes over and the sleepy little western town is suddenly awash with guilt and betrayals.

Former World War II hero Murphy is terrific as is Charles Drake as the town doctor as the two collide head to head as the townsfolk begin accusing each other and keep the viewer guessing as to who Gant's target is.

Anyone who enjoys classic Hollywood westerns could do a lot worse than check this out.

Surely that would be a good thing? I thought the trailer made it look "thoroughly generic modern CGI blockbuster". I know which I'd rather have.

I was more shocked at the fact my 14 year old would come out with something like that about a film

Blood From The Mummy's Tomb (71, Seth Holt)

Lurid but bland is some trick to pull off I says. I loves it regardless. What's not to like? Valerie Leon. Isn't this enough?

Bland but lurid is some trick to pull off. The semi usual cast of miscreants recount a twisted Pilgrim's Progress in Milligan's trademark 'conversationalist' style

Alien:Covenant - no strong feelings either way. Well made and entertaining, but nothing really new here. But then again, what can you expect this deep into the franchise?

Green Room - Really liked this. A lot. Felt very realistic, to me. Had a real edge to it, missing in so many films these days.

Speaking of which...'The Belko Experiment'. Not bad. Not great. I usually like this type of film, but would rather watch 'Cube' or 'The Game'.
Just too bland, I suppose.

Stranger Things & Stranger Things 2 - I don't think I would have watched these if it wasn't for my 12 year old. We watched them together and it was the best viewing experience I can remember. He absolutely loved the show, and I loved watching them with him.
