Vanity Fair (2004)

When you are used to watching Dickens adaptations that run for six episodes plus, films based on classic literature always seem rushed especially ones as expansive as this.

Reese Witherspoon , James Purefoy and Gabriel Byrne are all excellent but the rest of the cast and indeed the story simply seemed to be passing by.

I'd like to think that this story spread across six hours may be very good but on the other hand i'm not convinced the source material, classic as it is, is all that engaging.

There is a commentary track with Natasha Henstridge. I may have to give that a try sometime.
Haven't seen this for ages. I could be mistaken but I seem to recall that there is a bit where you see a train carriage cabin with the walls covered in blood, and the handy psychic informs the other characters that "Something bad happened here."

Default Unseen start

The Unseen.(1980)
Barbara Bach is a TV news reporter who is having relationship problems with her foot ball player boyfriend. While on assignment with her two friends, they end up staying at the house of Sidney Lassick, better known for his roles in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Carrie, plus numerous television appearances. Who would of thought that incest and inbreeding could be this much fun. If your gonna learn anything from this movie it's never have sex with your sister and let the child grow up in the basement, your just asking for trouble.High bonkers rating.

And Now the Screaming Starts.(1973)
The aristocracy will never learn will they, there forever raping the local wenches,on their wedding night and thinking they will get away with it.Well Ian Ogilvy and his bride Stephanie Beacham are learning the hard way that when someone puts a curse on you then you better beware .For a Amicus film I found this a rather dore and maudlin tale, certainly not as fun as there portmanteau movies. Not even Herbert Lom as the decadent squire or Peter Cushing as er Peter Cushing could rouse my interest, apart from a few nice scare jumps and a animatronic hand, Roy Ward Baker cannot seem to give the story much life.

THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD (1938)

Glorious Technicolor adventure. There is only one Robin Hood and that's Errol Flynn.

THE SMILING GHOST (1946)

'Lucky' Downing is offered $1000 to fake an engagement to Elinor Bentley Fairchild for one month. What 'Lucky does not know is that Elinor is known as the“Kiss of Death Girl” as three former have met with horrible deaths.
'Lucky' heads off with valet Clarence (Willie Best) to the old house and a meeting with The Smiling Ghost..

Enjoyable a quite funny ghost house story. Atmospheric scenes such as an old graveyard provide Willie Best with much of the laughs in this above average comedy mystery.

The Butcher. 2007.

Four people wake up and realise they are the stars in a new movie directed by a South Korean man called Kim who is a specialist in making snuff movies.

Filmed in point of view style by the victims and the sadists, we see how it would be like to be tortured from a first person sight. It is brutal as the victim wants to leave and can do if he can hold on for 10 minutes worth of torture and seeing the after effect. Due to the camera on the victims head there is a lot of shaking and may cause dizziness. There is quite a lot of violence and blood shed, not for the squimish.

A genuine classic and that rare beast a remake that's better than the original. The film has the best practical effects of any horror and shows how they are superior to CGI. 10/10

First couple of times i watched this i didn't really enjoy it much and found it rather poor, but enjoyed it a lot more this time and is superior to the new trilogy. Still find the actor they got for Han was totally wrong, no one could replace Ford but they could of found someone with more charisma and who didn't look a decade older than Ford did in the original trilogy! 7/10

Default Train To Busan, Annihilators, Fireball & A Knight's Tale

Train To Busan

Korean film about a Father taking his Daughter on a Train to Busan to see her mother but a Zombie outbreak occurs and a Zombie gets on the Train and therefore it's a battle for survival. OMG, this film is amazing, definitely my favorite Zombie Horror film of the modern era, it's an absolute thrill ride, the effects are amazing with the Zombies actually look threatening as well as having a new weakness that is realistic. If you like Zombie movies. WATCH THIS.

This is associated with the Anime film Seoul Station but you can see either movie first.

Annihilators

This cheap and cheerful 1985 Action film sees a group of Vietnam Veterans who avenge the murder of one of their own by a Street Gang. OK, it's not going to win any awards for Acting or Script but it's a cheesy B-Movie that I found fun. BTW, I found the machine gun fire sounds over the opening credits quite good.

Fireball

Thai Martial Art film in which a man avenging his Brother's assault ends up on a Fireball team, which is Basketball mixed with anything goes violence. The matches are run by Mob Bosses. If you like Ong Bak or Warrior King then you may like this as the fight scenes are just as awe-inspiring.

A Knight's Tale

Heath Ledger jousting film, It has it's moments that was quite funny but I thought it was too long for my liking.
