I saw Despicable Me 2 at the cinema today and thoroughly enjoyed it. Yes, it's predictable, but it's consistently funny with some excellent voice acting, visual gags and animation.

It's easily as good as the first, if not better.

Finally got to the bottom of my
"other people's dvds" pile!!! So I watched.....

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Cheesy as hell, but I enjoyed it for what it was, haven't read the GN so cannot comment on that, but as I enjoyed the cashin AL Vs Zombies as well....cough!!

The Nest (Florent-Emilio Siri, 2002). French action/thriller with strong whiff of Assault on Precinct 13 (orig) imo. Enjoyed this mishmash of action tropes, and would recommend it to any fan of gunplay.....

Tonight centres round Chic from Glastonbury , so may try to squeeze in Edmond before that....

I also enjoyed (and own) Abraham Lincoln vs Zombies and keep meaning to add Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter to my collection and I thought that was pretty good even though no one else I saw it with did!

Goblin weren't happy about it, but apparently the producers legally licensed the various goblin scores used from a music publisher.

It's funny, I remember a time when I wouldn't have even entertained the thought of watching it after seeing the trailer, esp with that ripped music!

Midnight in Paris

...with the missus. Funny Woody Allen movie with great Hemingway and Dali portrayals

Watched Man of Steel, it was was good. I think they have had enough bad Superman movies to get this one right. Look forward to a sequel or even better, Justice League!

I saw Jon Peters was a producer again, still no giant spider!

Very strange and jumbled film recorded from the Horror channel the other night; "Closed for the Season"! Couldn't quite get into it but couldn't stop watchin' it! At the end I gave up tryin' to work out who was and wasn't dead. Imaginative but garbled, I quite liked it as a way to waste time but not as an intellectual activity. 4/10 for trying hard.

Kevin Smith was saying the World Engine looks a bit like a giant spider

I think it was that anyway, or one of the spaceships.

Death in Haiti

Giallo in the Caribbean. Didn't have as many thrills and spills as I'd hoped for but it's nice to see a Giallo set in a tropical location and I'm a sucker for anything with a Jacopetti/Prosperi link...however tenuous. If anyone can tell more about Alfio Nicolosi, Peacock in DIH and uncredited ahem stud farmer in Addio Zio Tom I'm all ears.

ZPG Zero Population Growth (1972)

ZPG start out with an interesting well thought out premise of a dystopian future where child birth is forbidden due to the world being overpopulated.

Unfortunately once Geraldine Chaplin and Oliver Reed defy the rules and have a child the film quickly descends into maudlin sentimentality dragging the viewers interest down with it.
