Igor and the Lunatics (1985)

First thought: I am unable to explain why this film has a post-apocalyptic style poster when it is in fact about a hippie cult and their fanatical leader.

However this mild pondering aside, Igor and the Lunatics doesn't really gel at all well as a film so I guess they needed to market it any way they could. Troma seems to have 'remixed' the film, possibly in an attempt to bulk-out the running time by repeating certain key scenes either as flashback or part of the story told/seen from different perspectives meaning that if you actually look all the elements from the film, you begin to realise that nothing much really happens. Maybe they ran out of film and had to work with what they had... either way there isn't much to recommend about Igor and the Lunatics unfortunately.

Oh, a mannequin called Sarah is circular sawed to 'death' but you get to see this a few times during the film from a few different angles so it's hard to get too excited about it.

Cub

Annoyed with this italian disc both the listing AND the blu ray case state English Audio & Subs It has neither!! only either italian or Belgian Audio and Italian subs. Now i'll have to waste money on another release version. looked good though on flicking through.

Rollercoaster

Italian Blu (In English) hurrah! great 70's disaster movie. I Love bomb movies like this and speed and many disasters in general esp aircraft ones so feel free to recomend some other than speed of course. film 9/10 transfer 9/10 extras... oh wait 1/10

Maniac Remake

Not bad at all just as vicious and grimy as the 1980 version. 7/10

The Crazies (original)

I love Romero but have never been able to like this film the remake was actually better (for me) which is rare as remakes are usually not good but I love the remake more than the original in this rare instance 5/10

The Wife Killer

enjoyable greek fare from Mondo Macabro with a great transfer. Not quite as good as The Killer Must Kill Again but enjoyable all the same. 6/10

Watched St Georges Day.
Geezers borrow the plot from England Away to do a blaaaaag, whilst Jamie Foreman wanders about in a hat. Written by someone from Lock Stock , so that apple didn't fall far from the tree cough. Not as awful as it sounds.

Nomads (1986, John McTienrnan)
Sci Fi! Brosnan! A slimy thing! Lesley Anne Down! Anthrophogical Mumbo Jumbo!
Adam Ant! Mary Woronov! Not as terrible as yould imagine.....

I also watched Eerie 13, if only to catch the 1st 15 minutes which i missed the last time. I missed nothing

I have the German hardbox, a decent, atmospheric little chiller. If you enjoy films that can be defined as 'slow burners' it's worth a go...

Dick Barton at Bay (1950) The last in the trilogy and its pretty much more of the same. This time the Special Agent and his forever thirsty sidekick, Snowy, go up against a power-mad foreigner who has hijacked a 'death-ray' which he intends to use against a group of military aircraft! Cue the Dick Barton theme, (Devil's Galop), and lots of fisticuffs. It was on the way home following a party to celebrate the end of filming this that actor Don Stannard, who played Barton, was killed in a car accident.

Confidence (2003) A scam movie which, (according to the blurb on the back of the box), is "Above the likes of Ocean's Eleven". Personally I thought 'Oceans' was better.

Demolition Man (1993) I pulled the old VHS out as I don't have a copy on any other format. Loud and brash actioner and very much typical of the early 90's. Snipes overacts but an argument could be made to say that was what his character called for. Sandra Bullock is...Well Sandra Bullock and Stallone was Stallone! As I said typical of its time!
