I don't know if part of the problem is that the tension in the first two acts keeps ramping up and the stakes get higher and higher and so the resolution is always a little bit disappointing and a bit 'magic button'.

I agree with you about the moments you quoted - they were excellent and really well-timed and written. Then he goes and puts Paul O' Grady in it for a cheap laugh and I just want to scream.

Well all i'll say is thank feckin christ!

And glad you liked Series 4 paul, my second fave series of Nu-Who after series 3. However, despite some odd moments, the two/ three part finale was awful in my opinion despite a great performance from Bleach as Davros. But The Last Time-Lord also had that problem for me, like Super-Doctor brought back to life by the power of everyone chanting "Doctor"? Nah, screw that.

That being said...I bloody ADORE Planet of the Ood. One of the most powerful and poignient Nu-Who stories of them all only topped by the very personal Vincent and the Doctor, the only story ever to litteraly cause me to cry...well there was Delta and the Banermen but that was for completely different reasons!

Also, another vote for The Sontaran Stratagem. The Poison Sky. And I seem to be the only one who like's the new Sontaran design!

Delta and the Bannermen is a fine story.

Easily the best of season 24.

No, that would be Dragonfire.

Season 4 I really liked, especially The Unicorn and the Wasp, The Sontaran Stratagem/Poison Sky (Mainly because I enjoy a good U.N.I.T. story), Turn Left and the Stolen Earth/Journeys End.

Assuming that was a collection of all his stories I thought that was good value but its only 3 discs and 4 hours.

Yeah its a right load of rubbish - a vanilla Terror of the Zygons and Genesis of the Daleks on audio.

It's a nice looking set but a bit overpriced considering what's in it. Hopefully those postcards and the regenerated 4th Doctor figure will be released separately at some point. I wonder if there's going to be a set like this for each Doctor?
