Last nights episode was the first one in this series I've taken a real disliking to

It was probably the best chance of getting an appearance by Ian Chesterton and instead we get 35 minutes of soap opera style relationship issues between Clara and her new boyfriend.

Capaldi as usual was excellent, but the writing and direction they seem to be going with the show where The Doctor is becoming a secondary character is something that I have trouble getting past

Hopefully next week will be better

Another enjoyable episode on Saturday and another great performance from Peter Capaldi. Carrying on the feeling that I'm watching a very different show than before.

Twas....the worst monster yet....this being the tip of the iceberg in one of the least exciting episodes since Nightmare In Silver.
And yet again, it's all about HER.

Hmmmm! Tonights episode in one word....Crap! Dont get me wrong its certainly not the worst, (that goes to the Bertie Basset story), but it's definitely not the best. Capaldi I like, Clara...not so much. I think way to much emphasis is being given to the companion in this run. As for next weeks episode, I was immediately put off when I saw the Orient Express flying through space! Why a train? Could have used a space ship! Its just too....fantastical!

I was only say to the little MTDSs that the programme should be retitled "Clara"..

Perhaps it's from the same star travel company who built the Titanic spacecraft.

On the whole i liked this episode. I felt it flagged a little when the Doctor first left the women to make a decision but soon picked up.

By the way. I think The Happiness Patrol is superb. I've really come to appreciate it since it appeared on home video. Although had i seen it just on first transmission i would have agreed with you wholeheartedly.

The first series should definitely have been titled Rose also.

TBH I really dislike the entire McCoy era and cant find a single story that I liked anywhere. For me Bertie was the absolute nadir of the entire series, Ken Dodd and Richard Briers in other stories didn't help, and it all started with Peter Davison! Beryl Reid and her hardened but doddery starship Captain and then with Colin Baker with Joan Sims screaming out that she was "QUEEN KATRYCA" and being followed by her fearsome 'tribe'...of about four men! I know where I went wrong, I grew up with Tom Baker as the Doctor having seen Jon Pertwee originally regenerate into him so my vision of the Doctor is forever seen through a pair of Pertwee/Baker glasses.

Well to be honest, the only stories I enjoyed from the McCoy era were The Curse of Fenric, Survival and Ghost Light. For me, these stories feel more like Dr Who, but last night's Kill The Moon was trying to be more like a classic Tom Baker/ Phillip Hinchcliffe story. The very notion of an alien life form inside the moon was rather a faaaaar stretch for me personally. Yes, I know it's Dr Who, but at times I do think it goes alittle too far. I'm amazed an alien creature can actually lay such a large egg without getting somesort of constipation. Just hope the creature in question took some sort of laxative. The Hinchcliffe era did to a degree follow somesort of scientific understanding about the Doctor's motives, but this story really did go off into the deep end and drop all scientific logic. Kill the Moon did have some superb CGI in places, but not so much in other shots. The moon's suface looked brilliant, thanks Lanzarote, and the spiders didn't look too Computer Generated, but it was an improvement on last weeks story, The Caretaker. Skovox Blitzer looked awful, and I'm glad the robot was kept out of shot or limited to the background in certain scenes. After the hype of the mummy epsisode for next week, and the Dr Who make-up team saying that the mummy looks frightening, judging by what I saw in the trailer for Mummy On The Orient Express, it doesn't look at all frightening, just rather bland. Oh well, I'll just have to see how the episode uncoils itself.
