The first season (of Fringe) is very much 'Monster of the Week' but stick with it because once the main story arc starts it's excellent TV.

This and that it has the late great Leonard Nimoy in it, also if you go back to watching it try finding the Observer in each episode

Finished off Sapphire and Steel's first assignment last night and started the 8 episode Assignment 2.

Set at a small railway station during October, it's a bit of a chiller really. Ghostly goings on the platform are really nicely shot using long shots of the platform allowing ghost like shapes to shuffle along. It really is quite creepy especially as the interiors are all candle lit as well.

I currently enjoying my revival of TNG on blu-ray (which looks fantastic) and i'm midway through Season 5. I can't wait to start DS9 and Voyager again.
I haven't seen a single episode of Star Trek. What would be a good place to start?

How do they stand up compared to the later series with bigger budgets and (slightly) better actors such as Patrick Stewart? Would it be possible to start with Star Trek: The Next Generation, then Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise?

I have always been under the impression the original series with Shatner and Nimoy leading the cast was little on the cheesy side with some wooden sets and acting to match. Is that unfair?

The original is the best in my opinion, the cheesiness adds to its charm.
