Penny Dreadful - The Final Season

After the first few episodes I thought that Season 3 would never reach the subtlety of Season 1 or the power of Season 2. The story had become slightly too obscure, and the move from London to the USA (for quite a bit of the running time) definitely needed getting used to.

How wrong I was. Episode 4 ("A Blade of Grass") simply blew me away. This has to be one of the finest episodes of Penny Dreadful. I even go one step further. The scenes with Eva Green and Rory Kinnear in the insane asylum are nothing short of a masterpiece. Great dialogues, excellent acting, perfect editing.

A quiet episode for sure. All the violence is inside Vanessa's head. And, at least a little bit, in the viewer's head, too. Brilliant.

---

Now let's see how the rest of the series compares to this fine episode.

THE FLASH S4 EP 4 - "Elongated Journey Into Night"

LEGENDS OF TOMORROW S3 EP 4- "Phone Home"

I have flagged these recent episodes of the show up because in my opinion they are absolute crap.

THE FLASH would have been okay if they had just focused on the Elongated Man story. They had another story running. A stupid story about Gypsy's father hunting Cisco.

LEGENDS OF TOMORROW. A complete disaster from the start.
Stupid scenes from one scene to the next. Not funny at all.
Embarrassing and painful to watch.

These shows need to up their game. Hopefully, these are one off disasters but both shows have been lacking recently.

Bah !

I watched the first episode of Fear the Walking Dead last night.

Oh dear! I think it was only former Sons of Anarchy actress Kim Dickens that kept me watching.

Still, i'll persevere.

Stick with it, it definitely gets better, the third season that’s just finished was awesome!

Obviously, it’s not as good as the Walking Dead, but it definitely fills the gap during downtime between seasons

This is more like What TV Haven't You Seen?

I'm not bothering with Blue Planet II tonight as minute microbes that look like aliens in the depths of the ocean bore me to death.

Plus the first episode annoyed me with all it's perhaps / possibly and maybe scenarios.
