I love that ad, and a bit of Southern Comfort for that matter.

Amazing bargain... Sharon just a quick question about the packaging - is this something that would get easily mangled in the post ? I want to pick this up but a bruised and battered Phantasm boxset I once got from Play still gives me chills...

mmmm got a lovely new Mondo Macabre red box today to go with my other recent purchases. Got The Night Child in store in hmv for a very reasonable £8, on the same shelf as House With Laughing Windows going for a not so reasonable £17  . . .

cloud 29th November 2012 07:35 PM

Yeah, I'm not fussed about Bloody Iris and Your Vice because I have both and with much superior transfers as well. But Death Laid An Egg and The Dark is Death's Friend, especially the former are ones I've been after for ages. And I hear Death Laid An Egg is anamorphic widescreen too, but I've not had chance to check yet.

Slippery Jack 29th November 2012 07:41 PM

"Just before it was pulled" I didn't know that - what's the deal there . . . ?

cloud 29th November 2012 07:43 PM

The lack of rights I imagine, but it's since disappeared from everywhere.

Phew, mine arrived last week. Still needed the Killers On The Loose collection to complete the set, so doubt I'll be getting that then :mmph: . . .

cloud 29th November 2012 07:58 PM

Is it worth getting that one though?

Red Queen - NoShame (awesome set as well)
The Fifth Cord - Blue Underground
Seven Notes - Severin
Duckling - Shameless/Blue Underground/Anchor Bay

I didn't bother with that one as I have them all already.

For £4 or whatever of course it is.

For a newbie to these films the releases you mentioned would set them back £50 at least. I don't know what the Red Queen collectors box is going for now. (£44 used on Amazon)

cloud 29th November 2012 08:03 PM

The Severin release of Seven Notes (The Psychic) is a corker, so I can't recommend that highly enough. Pity the NoShame set of Red Queen is OOP, I used to love their releases.

Yes, well I mean it's just a cardboard box, on top of that the booklet and postcards that are on one side mean it isn't a tight fit so slightly squishy. It's still worth it though if you can get it for cheap.

fuzzymctiger 29th November 2012 08:21 PM

£13!? Sold!

Stephen@Cult Labs 29th November 2012 08:35 PM

Almost the same as me, Ben-Hur instead of Grand Hotel.

Still waiting on the Kelly's Heroes artwork to appear!

I was very tempted to indulge myself in the B&N sale, but I'm an all or nothing kind of guy and wanted five and couldn't justify it so close to Christmas. I'll have them one day!

nekromantik 29th November 2012 09:23 PM

I only got:

Salo
Videodrome
Rosemary's Baby
Repulsion

Jinx_Barkman 30th November 2012 01:44 AM

Picked this one up on the cheap today.

My GF grabbed me the coffin set for Christmas and it came through from England without a scratch. (I live in Canada so it was pretty impressive)

Now I just need to wait til Christmas to open it.. :(

I lust over your Phantasm set, lucky guy. Did that have the feature length documentary?

Worth checking out salvation films website. Got The pete walker st for £35.99 and Baron blood for £12.99 and only £3.50 postage for both! Perhaps a word of caution regarding the pete walker set as its definately region locked and odeon are probably releasing them next year. No idea if its on blu though but given their lovely blood beast terror disc its a strong possibility.

With luck the discs should be shipping from the uk like they do when I order off Nigel Wingrove on amazon marketplace so no problems with customs and quick delivery!

Stephen@Cult Labs 30th November 2012 09:06 AM

Looks like the Ben-Hur steelbook is just the 2-disc version. Had a feeling it would be at £12.99

I checked them all, they're all the first discs unless the movies on 2 discs, like Ben Hur. But at £13, they're quite nice steelbooks and a good way to get introduced to these movies (I haven't seen any of them!)

Edit: Also might want to charge your phone

Refused 30th November 2012 11:00 AM

Trying to be cautious with money at the moment, but as it's payday I thought I'd treat myself to a few blu-rays -

Godzilla vs Biollante
Miami Connection
Zebraman 2

Hopefully those will keep me entertained over Christmas, if they actually arrive before then.

BAKA 30th November 2012 11:55 AM

I plan to get as many of these as I can afford, but it's a bad time to release them for me. Planned purchases for 28th of January: V/H/S, Piranha '78, Black Sunday, Holy Motors, Lisa And The Devil, Fear And Desire, Paris, Texas and The Blue Angel. Now to somehow fit at least 5 steelbooks in there and not go broke :dizzy:

At least the prices aren't too bad on the Steelbooks at £12.99 each.
