Regression. A young girl (Emma Watson, still gorgeous ) accuses her father of abuse, who bizarrely confesses despite professing to have no memory of such crimes. When regression therapy appears to unlock the presence of others in the crime, the detective on the case (Ethan Hawke) begins to fear he is uncovering a Satanic cult conspiracy with potentially far-reaching implications... This 2015 thriller is a bit of a damp squib. It's not really bad, and it's well made and acted, but as I suspected before it even entered production it is loosely based on real events in the US in the 90s - and even says so itself at the start - and once you know that most of the mystery is drained from the film because you can almost entirely predict where it's going. The real life events are genuinely extraordinary, and it might have been a better idea to do a more straight-ahead movie about them rather than attempting to do a mystery film where at least some of the audience will know the answer from scene one.

The Rover

Some time after 'the collapse' Guy pearce is a drifter whose car is stolen by armed robbers. Intent on getting it back, he heads across country. On the way he stumbles across the gang leaders brother, played by Robert Pattinson. The brother is a bit slow witted but the pair find themselves becoming friends as the film progresses and they make their way across the harsh and dangerous wilderness looking for the car.
The Rover received luke warm reviews on release and I must confess I'd missed it up until now. I think in spite of some of its flaws its a decent film and worth watching. The Australian outback is perfect for post apocalypse. Given it already looks like the eight circle of hell on a good day the film really does deliver a convincing depiction of a society where law and order has completely broken down and sudden violence can come from nowhere. I know Pearce is a good actor but kudos to Pattinson who manages to deliver a great performance and seals the notion that his dull performance in twilight was more due to the shitty material he was being handed. The end reveal is what I expected and is hinted through the film, but here its more about the journey and The rover is actually quite an entertaining ride.

SUPERMAN RETURNS (2006)

Wow! Is it really 10 years since this film came out?
There has been much critic about this film but I like it. I remember watching this at the cinema and hearing the familiar John Williams score over the titles was just awesome. Taking place after Superman II, the film has a lot of love for the two previous films. I like the more quieter moments as Superman watches Lois house from afar and hearing Jor-El's voice and the flight over the city again with Lois. The music is perfect for those scenes. Brandon Routh made a good Superman/Clark Kent and it unfortunate that he never got to repeat the role.

THE LADY AND THE MONSTER (REPUBLIC 1944)

Two scientists discover that they can keep a monkey's brain alive for 90mins after the death. A plane crash gives them the oppertunity to try the same thing on a human brain. The brain gets strong and sends messages to one of the scientists and then overcomes him to complete his schemes......

Starting off looking like a mad scientist film, the movie then becomes a talk-fest for the rest of the film until a fight at the end. That said, the film is entertaining enough to see you through to the end.
Just one of the films based on the novel Donovan's Brain by Curt Siodmak. Siodmak said of this version.."It's shit". Lol !

A young man decides to elope with is girlfriend and get married, but things don't go as planned as she is kidnapped by the hell cop and taking to hell, so it's up to our young hero to recuse her. A so called horror comedy but is more of an action adventure movie most of the so called comedy is dreadfully unfunny and childish but their are few good scenes and is probably worth watching once. Watching out for a young Ben Stiller in an early role 5.1/10

Forgotten what a great film this is, not going to go into the plot for those who haven't seen it, but if you enjoy a more cerebral sci if film from the usual fair to yourself a favour and either pick the shout factory blu Ray or the UK DVD up. A hidden gem that deservers wider recognition. 9/10

Watched Spectre at the weekend.
The weakest of Craig's Bond films IMO.

Fiennes and Craig just don't have the same on screen chemistry as Dench and Craig had.
Add to that a BIG anti-climax with the head of Spectre, and yeah-disappointed.

Is it true that's Daniel Craig handed in his Bond P45?

Really Reaps? Its not Skyfall i grant you but i thought it a damn sight better than Quantum of Bollocks.
I saw media reports claiming Craig was bored of the role but have no idea whether its true.

SPECTER is better in just about every way than Quantum of Solace: villain, set pieces, marriage of A unit and B unit material, editing, character arcs and writing in general (it was affected by the writers strike), names (Strawberry Fields, anyone?) and general engagement factor. It's not perfect, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to seeing it again.

Spectre was the best of the Craig Bond films, but Casino Royale the best action film. There is a difference.
