"Super", excellent dark comedy full of excessive violence. Ellen Page is a joy to behold in a deeply psychopathic way. The best mainstream film I've seen this year.

loved it, not really mainstream though as it was shot independently, but the ending is really brutal.

Watched super on blu-ray last night, flippin great movie!

Imagine kick-ass shot with the sensebility of a troma movie (director james gunn used to work for troma and lloyd kaufman has a cameo!) Very dark humour, and very very violent.

Ellen paige from juno plays one of the years biggest and hottest psychos!

RETURN FROM DEATH - FRANKENSTEIN 2000: Early 90's horror from Joe D'Amato which is a cross between Frankenstein and Lucio Fulci's AENIGMA. It was pretty rubbish - took too long to get going and had one of the worst English dub's I have ever heard. (only the N'Dubz are worse! )

THE CYNIC, THE RAT, AND THE FIST - Quality crime film from Umberto Lenzi, one of his very best. I wish Shameless had released this instead of ALMOST HUMAN (which I do like, only this is better IMO)

just finished Your Highness, now this was an odd film, it started out and i though you know what this is a bit shit, but i stuck with it and by about 35 minutes in the rest of the film was made up of 80s fantasy movie references and it became actually quite funny. Worth a rent.

Also watched Blue Thunder today, this film had some amazing aerial camera work and a pretty decent conspiracy plot with Maclom McDowell playing one of his usual scene chewing villains, great fun and a great action film too.

Cool

I watched 'Conquest of the Planet of the Apes' as part of the Blu box set, now old-timers may remember that the studio re-cut the ending and cut some violence to avoid a R rating in the US. Now the studio have re-instated this original version as an option in the menu. WOW, just shows how a little tampering can wreck an ending and so the movie. This version makes it one of, if not the best sequel in the series, I won't go into details to spoil it, and the film runs unaltered for 90% of the time, but if you're an 'APES' fan(as I am) this is a real eyeopener and completely changes your opinion of the film. To me the first stands head and shoulders above the rest but 'Conquest' now moves to 2nd fave(and don't piss off Roddy McDowall) And in case your wondering how the makeup fares in HD, no worries it holds up very well indeed(apart from 'Beneath' where they clearly use cheapo slip over masks in the outdoor speech scene)

Default What films have you seen recently?

NAKED GUN 2 - the funniest of the trilogy
VAMPYRES - the best Brit erotic horror of the 70's
CRADLE OF FEAR - gory Brit horror anthology from Alex Chandon, can't wait for his new film

I agree, the theatrical ending is not convicing. Suddenly Ceasar says ok that's enough for now call it a break .The original ending though is more dark but gives a more powerful message
