Just realized what it reminded me of the Scary Movie series!

Very short at a little over an hours running time it has some great dialouge betwen characters, some nasty shocks and is well worth picking up. If you have a thats entertainment near you go for look in the store as I got this one in their 3 for 5 quid deal.
Seen this a few times on Amazon for a couple of quid. I might go for it after this review.

I didn't think the second one was a patch on the original.

I notice in your previous post you watched Staunton Hill.

What did you think?

I thought it very run of the mill considering the director.

The Hills Run Red was better. Mainly due to Sophie Monk.

I thought it was decent nothing new though its all been done before, I can understand why people disliked it but I enjoyed them both the same.
I also enjoyed Hatchet II but the first was better but I loved them both, biggest problem with 2 is the change of actress for Mary-Beth. Danielle Harris is a good actress but continuity wise it was distracting for a bit.

It's well worth it, Dem. It seems to divide people a little, but there was something about it that really drew me in. Yes, there is something slightly Pinteresque about it, although this gives way to some cheap shocks at the end (jarring transition, but I really liked this aspect actually). I forget the lead actor's name, but he has a really gaunt face.

The Black Tavern (1972)

"Rumour has it that an official is transporting a case full of wealth through the area, and various groups of ne'er-do-wells congregate on the tavern where it is assumed the official will be forced to spend a snowy night. Their intention is robbery, but they're not the sorts to work together and split the loot between them."

I watched the first 5-10 minutes of this on youtube and knew I needed to get the dvd...finally watched the complete film and this certainly didn't disappoint.

Not just another inn based wuxia film as this one has some very good thriller elements and excellent (bloody!) action,it's also quite bizarre at times.

Btw seems the better known classic Dragon Inn (1992) borrows one of the more bizarre plot points from this one?

Another one to join the list of my favourite Shaw films I guess.

Recommended if you can find it on dvd (it's oop).
