They Live In The Grey. 2022. A clairvoyant social worker helps a family that be be haunted by a tormented soul. Why do I feel this is like The Sixth Sense but with a female in the lead role Clocking in at just over 2 hours this was actually tough to sit through and not fall asleep. It seems to deal with pain and loss between two families and does go off the beaten track a few times. This had potential to be something good but just goes at a snail pace and even the plot twist wasn't exciting. They_Live_in_the_Grey-298501796-mmed.jpg

The Taking Of Deborah Logan. 2014. A trio of a film crew document Deborah Logan who is diagnosed with early on set Alzheimer's disease, along with Deborah's daughter Sarah, they uncover something darker. As a documentary movie yes this is done P.O.V. style, for anyone who has known people to suffer this terrible disease it does hit home and can be upsetting. Jill Larson who plays the title character does do a good job even when the story takes a different turn and Anne Ramsay who plays her tired out and borderline alcoholic daughter. The film does have one or two flaws in it, like your looking for someone in a house and does help to put a light on. This was entertaining and best watched in the dark. 81CQ049XZYL._AC_SX342_.jpg

The Cellar. 2022. A family move into a new home in Ireland, the daughter Ellie goes missing in the basement, her mother Keira looks into the house and uncovers it's a portal controlled by evil. Latest horror movie on Shudder and went for it, this was a bit slow start with but stuck with it and glad I did, this was really enjoyable although it does borrow some element from The Changling and felt like it was going the same way as The Beyond in a way. This doesn't really rely on jump scares but more suspense and tension brought on by good acting and a decent direction. This was based on the director's short horror The Ten Steps. Worth checking out. 2rlLgZdKC9UhzI7qZHbWKLxl889.jpg

X (Ti West, 2022) He never really bettered The House Of The Devil imho. He attempts to do the "seventies" thing here, what with the nods to TTCM and the like. The reveal was underdeveloped severely I felt. Others may just consider it undemanding. The Batman (2022, Matt Reeves) Overlong and underlit, this moody bugger slouches around for great stretches (world building?) and while there was some fun to be had, the woke element is just so poorly written (subtext being obviously for cowards ) ahem. Did like the antagonist for all that. He's a looney

Underlit is somewhat of an understatement haha, easily the darkest film I’ve seen in an age!! Had me squinting. Hoping the HDR treatment in 4k allows it to be seen a bit better. On the fence about X, I thought the trailer was awful but people seemed to like it. Looked like a knock-off TCM but they’re making a porno.

Oh, and extra points for Batman due the Liverpool locations which looked excellent. Even if that bloody helicopter shot of the Liver Buildings kept me awake for 3 nights and it ended up being a 3 second sequence in the film lol.
