SCREAM AND SCREAM AGAIN (1970)

Amicus horror with a plot that's all over the place. The 'Vampire' killer and a mysterious dictatorship. Does anyone understand what's going on?

Some of the scenes were shot near me.
The scene with the military jeep on the high hill is Box Hill in Surrey. The town below is Dorking. Yutte Stensgaard is seen climbing up the hill before the scene shifts to another location altogether. The chalk pit is nearby and the remains are still there. Michael Gothard is also seen running along the top of the chalk pit which is basically an extension of Box Hill.

Day Three.



A ex priest who became a cop, a school teacher and a young girl become involved in the on going war between angels who believe a dark soul can bring a end to the war and open the gates of heaven. Christopher Walken plays the archangel Gabriel who is looking for the dark soul and has a,strong dislike of us talking monkey's. Viggo Mortensen has a small but important role as Satan.

Always had a fine spot for this. 8/10



A powerful warlock who is about to be executed escapes through time to modern times and sets out to find the grand grimoire which knows the true name of God and if spoken backwards will undo all of creation . Unknowing to the warlock a witch hunter has followed him and teams up with a waitress too try and stop him.

Another one I've always enjoyed the with some good kills. 8/10

Bloodbath At the House Of Death. 1984.

Six scientists arrive at Headstone Manor to investigate a strange phenomenon where 18 people were killed in one night and a satanic cult plan to kill the investigators.

You know by the title and the name Kenny Everett that this film is not to be taken seriously even though Vincent Price plays the sinister monk of the satanic cult who even manages to have a laugh and show his comedic side to the film. The film does spoof other horror movies, i mean where would you see a guy sitting on the toilet playing a Cello with a noticeable theme and Pamela Stephenson getting her clothes ripped off by a mysterious wind.

MALEFIQUE – Found myself lingering over this after I remembered Demoncrat’s recent review (cheers, man). Sufficiently inspired, I slipped it in my laptop this afternoon and good times were had. ‘Malefique’ is set in a bleak French jail, where ‘the narrativistic main guy’ sits in an overcrowded cell. He and fellow reprobates find a magic book and try to figure out how to use its powers to transport the hell out of there. Their journey takes in a heavy breathing porn collage, bits of gore, a possessed action man (kind of) and, above all, lots of sitting around talking. That last bit could be a bit off-putting were ‘Malefique’ not so crammed with incident and less alive to its characters’ humanity. Comparisons to other ‘mind bending sci-fi flicks set in enclosed spaces’ like ‘Cube’ are possible, and ‘Malefique’ probably relates more to that particular cinematic strain than the gore movies that would come out of France a year or so after this was made. Interesting and well worth your time, I would think.

Link. 1986.

A female zoologist student takes a job to a primatology professor at his sea side mansion with his experiments, things take a sinister turn with a chimpanzee called Link.

This film i hadn't seen since the late 80s and forgot how suspenseful this film actually is, this may not a be a cinematic masterpiece but still very much enjoyable to watch after all these years. Terrence Stamp plays the professor who looks for a assistant to help with his research, Elizabeth Shue plays the lucky assistant whom Link seems to like then becomes very homicidal. There is some mild black humour and dark horror added in to the mix of a nice stylish thriller movie.

The House Of Witchcraft. 1989.

When Luke starts to have nightmares of a house with a witch, his wife decides to take him away on holiday, the house they stay at is the same one as his dreams and he sees the witch to nobody believes him.

Even though this was made for T.V. by Umberto Lenzi and low production it does deliver some chill factor, the acting may not be great as well as the dubbing and the severed head look plastic it does deliver the gothic house type which anyone would avoid spending the night let alone go into the house. There are points where it does seem to drag on and become boring but Lenzi does manage to fit in some twists and turns, for 50p from Amazon I still feel i got my money's worth from this.

Day Four.



Another first watch. A enjoyable action movie with horror elements , it follows Hansel and Gretel who have become witch hunters after the ginger bread house incident. Enjoyable and fast paced ,some interesting design of the witches and more gory than I was expecting. 7.5/10



A atmospheric and well acted chiller, about a scientist whom after the tragic death of his son discovers and finds a way to trap the Asphyx ( a spirit of death) which in turn leads to immortality. Robert Powell co stars as the scientists assistant. 7/10



The second of the gates of hell trilogy , here a woman is getting ready to open a old dilapidated hotel , soon a number of mysterious deaths and incidents surround the hotel, which is one of the seven gateways to hell.

We have the typical Fulci lack of logic and OTT gore, but it's all very atmospheric and creepy, not a film for people scared of spiders. Probably my favourite of the trilogy. 8.5/10

The Strange Colour Of Your Body's Tears (2014, Cattet / Forzani)

Aaaaaaand this is why I love watching films. Much like their opener Amer, this is stylized TF, but is more assured AF.
IS it a horror film? Well, I certainly felt uncomfortable watching it. So sod your rules and regulations, we regain complete control ahem.
Definitely goes into any list (spit!) yadda yadda ....
REWATCH!!!!!!
